Prinz Friedrich Karl of Prussia(1893-1917) was shot down and later died in 1917.He survived the crash but was shot by Australian soldiers while trying to flee the scene.Refer Australian Official History Chapter 6,Volume 4.
The Prince commanded Flieger-Abteilung (A) 258, but flew patrols in a single-seat fighter with Jasta Boelke whenever possible. It was during such a patrol on March 21, 1917 that he was forced to land with a bullet in his engine and a slight wound in the foot. He landed in No Man's Land, but while running towards his own lines was severely wounded in the back by Australian troops and later died in captivity on April 6, 1917.

He was the son of the Kaiser's cousin,Friedrich Leopold Prinz of Prussia.Prinz Friedrich Karl had been a member of the German equestrian team at the Stockholm Olympics in 1912.

Moriz Freiherr von Lyncker
One of Lyncker's sons,also a pilot,came down in flames
Bodo Freiherr von Lyncker(1894-1917) killed over Macedonia,February 1917,serving with Jasta 25.

A friend of Manfred von Richthofen:

http://www.century-of-flight.net/Aviati ... ournal.htm
I went through my examinations in Doberitz together with a dear fellow. First Lieutenant von Lyncker. We got on very well with one another, had the same inclinations and the same ideas as to our future activity. Our aim was to fly Fokkers and to be included in a battle squadron on the Western front. A year later we succeeded in working together for a short time. A deadly bullet hit my dear friend when bringing down his third aeroplane.

From The Jasta Pilots,Norman Franks,Frank Bailey & Rick Duiven1996:
The Jasta's first victory came on 10th December, Lt Bodo von Lyncker scoring his first victory. Von Lyncker was also the first combat casualty, colliding with an enemy Nieuport south of Gevgjeli on the 18th February.

Max Planck,physicist

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Max_Planck
During the First World War Planck's oldest son, Karl, was killed in action at Verdun, and Erwin was taken prisoner by the French in 1914.

In January 1945 his second son, Erwin, to whom he had been particularly close, was executed by the Nazis because of his participation in the failed attempt to assassinate Hitler in July 1944.

My Great Great Granfather known to us as Nicholas Lyncker, until recently when I have been researching our roots. Where I have only been able to get so far as he was born in Bromburg Germany January 1876. He was denied papers and investigated as a german spy after his neighbor George Storck informed the F.B.I that a Mr. George Nicholas Von Lyncker told him that his father was a General in the German army and that he himself served several years as an officer in Paris. My GGGrandfather was a Dr. in Jacksonville Florida. I have hit many dead ends I can't speak German and I can't find anything! Help!!! Please.. Thank you for anything!!
