Hi FANGIO and all,
in arrangement with Peter both Fsch.Jäg RKT threads has been merged.
Beside the unit threads "1st Para Div" and "Fsch.Pz.Div 1 HG" this one is open for any further additions - pics or Bio - on Fsch.Jäg in general.
The index on page 1 is updated according to the new thread composition.

Thanks and regards
Bernd

He commanded a company of the Sturm Regiment at Crete, later awarded the RKT while serving with FJR5 in Tunisia in 1943.

Hi Peter and all,

what about the following KC holders ? Looking for any info and confirmation of the added info [per Scherzer] :

Hönscheid, Johannes M., 16.03.1945 Oberfeldwebel, Kriegsberichter der Fallschirmtruppe
[deed in july 1943 at Sicily , with III./Fsch.Jäg.Rgt 4]

Kerutt, Hellmut, 02.02.1945, Major, Kdr Fsch.Jäg.Btl Kerutt [verst. I./FJR 18 (alt)]
[6. FJD ; attached to another unit ?]

Paul, Hugo, 18.11.1944, Hauptmann, Fhr Fsch.Jäg.Btl Paul [im Bereich der 334. Inf.Div]

Witzig, Rudolf, 25.11.1944 [662. EL], Major Kdr I./Fsch.Pi.Rgt 21
Yes, well known Witzig. Fought with his Btl. at Lithuania and East Prussia and is said to have been the last Fsch.Jäg unit at the Ostfront in 1944.
Fought side by side with : Fsch.Jäg.Rgt 16 (Ost) = Kgr. Oberstleutnant Schirmer
Question here : Witzig's Pioniere subordinated to Schirmer or both units independent officially ?

Great job Peter, thanks :D Interesting to see Büttner, Trotz and Vögerl.
I take it the men flown into Festung Breslau [FJR 26] formed the Trotz-Btl.
Several bits and pieces of info I gathered so far, indicated that Büttner and Vögerl have been at Breslau too ; so, that's wrong ? both at the area STETTIN - any more confirmation for that ?

Bernd

The Bataillon Kerutt was part of Kampfgruppe Walther in September 1944.
Kerutt was severely wounded on 17.10.1944 in the area Sambeeksche and Vierlingbeeksche Heide (heather area of Sambeek and Vierlingbeek).
He returned not before April 1945 as Inspektionschef of the Fallschirmoffiziersschule in Berlin-Reickendorf (end of the war in Goslar).

Hello Bernd, Dieter, Peter et al!

The interesting thing about Kriegsberichter and Oberfeldwebel Johannes M. Hönscheid is that he recieved the DKiG on the same day as he recieved the RK, that is on 16.03.1945. Since his RK was made for action on Sicily in 1943 (long wait for an award!), it would also be interesting to learn of the reasons of his DKiG. Was it also long overdue or was it awarded for action much closer to the award date? Hönscheid belonged to the Heer when the awards were recieved.

There's a great photo of Hönscheid (in Heer uniform) recieving the RK in "Tank Killers - History of the Tank Destruction Badge" by Breyette & Bender (2000). It clearly shows his three Panzervernichtungsabzeichen, a Nahkampfspange and the "Afrika" cuff title. An interesting character!

About Hönscheid's DKiG... He is not listed in Patzwall & Scherzer's "Das Deutsche KReuz 1941-1945" (2001) as a recipient of the DKiG but Scherzer lists the award and date in his "Ritterkreuzträger" (2005). 8O

I will also look forward to more input and information (photos!) of Hönscheid from fellow members...

Regards,

Krollspell
