Maybe someone who speaks Albanian can help me:
I am looking for information about a WW II massacre in the Albanian village of Borove.
Borove is a village near Ereske.
This town is close to the Greek border.
A friend of mine, who travelled the region, heard that only two inhabitants survived the massacre.
At least one of those two survives still lives nearby.
A huge monument in Bovore is dedicated to this massacre.
There is a website about this massacre, but it is in Albanian.
The only thing I was able to decipher is the name v. Stettner – a German general (Gebirgstruppe):

The photos belong to a friend of mine. He gave me the permission to publish them:

Any help is appreciated! Thanks a lot!

Rob, thanks a lot for your quick answer and the interesting information!
In the meantime I changed the writing of Borove into Borova and found more information on Wikipedia:
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borova_%28Albanien%29
Concerning the 1. Gebirgsdivision there will be a new book out soon:
Meyer, Hermann Frank, Blutiges Edelweiß. Die 1. Gebirgsdivision im Zweiten Weltkrieg

Whatever happened to Major Runbald Klebe? Did he survive the war?
Does anyone have any photos of him?

Re: Massacre in Borove / Borova (Albania)
My great grand father was from this village, but was forced to leave due to a feud with another family. I was wondering if you were able to find anymore information about the people who lived in the village? He changed our last name to Borova so we new where we came from, but unfortunately i don't know what it was prior.
