Knight's Cross Holders Identification
Re: Knight's Cross Holders Identification
Hi again Terry.
Are you sure about Nacke. Look here
http://www.das-ritterkreuz.de/index_sea ... word=nacke
He won the rk as a Hptm not as StFw.

Hello, Terry,robertmoore wrote:Hello, Fangio,
You asked about the last pic posted on Page 218. It is indeed mis-identified. It is not a picture of Reinhold Knacke. It is indeed a picture of Stabsfeldwebel Heinz Nacke, who was a pilot in the 3rd Gruppe of KG/76 at the time of his KC award.
Hope this helps.
Take care.
Terry
I think you mean Rudolf not Heinz Nacke, who was gruppenkommandeur in KG 76.
Best wishes.
Re: Knight's Cross Holders Identification
Another unknown RK holder, looks like very similar, maybe Bruno Kahl but I doubt?

Who is this KC holder? He appears in a photo with Generals Gorn and Prieß. (Source Lexikon der Wehrmacht)

The above LW Stabsfeldwebel was posted first on page 55. I'm on this page upwards right now and I have just added a caption. He is (and was id'ed correctly)
Stabsfeldwebel Rudolf Nacke, who won the KC as a Flugzeugführer in III./KG 76 on 23.07.1941

Hello, Fangio and others,
Yes, you are right. In my haste, and I was looking at a pic of Rudolf Nacke, when I wrote the entry. I must have had Heinz on the mind.
Sorry about that, but I am glad that someone else caught it. At least, I had the last name right!
Take care.
Terry

Hello, Bernd,
I just noticed on page 58, among those not identified on that page, the listed as "published.jpg (38.11 KiB) is a pic of Franz Mosler.
Hope this helps.

Re: Knight's Cross Holders Identification
Hello, Bernd,
The request to identify the "unknown EL 1944" on Page 56 looks very similar to Wilhelm Spindler, but given the picture date, if indeed it is a correct date, it is not he. However, I can tell you that the depicted person is not Heinrich Hogrebe.
I am sure this is not much help, but there is a strong resemblance of the depicted with Wilhelm Spindler. However, he was awarded the Oakleaf decoration on 31 Jan 1945.
If another possibility turns up, I will certainly let you know.
Take care.

I now recall he was treated in the famous "Request for Idenficitation".
Terry,
the pic of Franz Mosler is captioned now. That posting is connected to another unidentified pic ; we might call this the Fritz Faust case .
The original request by Elwyn was on page 53 : mysterious1.jpg
The reaction on page 58 http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... 13#p586413 came with three pics and the id of Fritz Faust. First pic we now have as Franz Mosler. The two mysterious pics re-posted there are open and we see not Fritz Faust at all ??
because it was pointed out correctly by Denis IMO
it was said additionally that it is a scene of the Wachbataillon.
Thanks and regards
Bernd

Re: the unknown EL 1944I am not sure that the 2 last photo of the same guy (as Uffz then Fw.) might be attributed to Fritz Faust.
According to Biblio Verlag, Faust's highest rank was Ogfr. If this point is confirmed, this would prevent us from assigning both pics to Faust
it was said additionally that it is a scene of the Wachbataillon.
Thanks and regards
