Jack M. Singer wrote:I found SS Colonel Hammer in the book " The Field Men ". He is Walter Hammer. He was born
in 1907. He was in the Einsatzgruppen before he became a spymaster in the RSHA. I don't
know how the SS recruted 100,000 men in each of the last nine months of the war without
recruting high ranking officers of the Order Police and the Fire Department. Most SS records
are from the sub-basement under Prinz Albrecht Strasse after it was bombed sometine in 1944.
The final SS records were located at RSHA headquarters at Oranianburg ( 5 blocks south and
2 blocks east of the main gate of Sachsenhausen concentration camp. They keep it in pretty
good shape. It is one of the best looking buildings in Oranianburg ). The NKVD ( now KGB )
and OSS also have copies of the final SS records. Of course, some of them must be taken
with a grain of salt. Many SS officers were giving themselves both promotions and deleting
previous promotions in the final months of the war. You seem to have some good records of
high ranking police officers. What about the fire department officers listed on this site??
Oberführers of the Order Police Fire Department and Civil Defence Department of the SS:
SS Oberführer Bakalar
SS Oberführer Beil
SS Oberführer Berger
SS Oberführer Dr. Bremer
SS Oberführer Brendow
SS Oberführer Buban
SS Oberführer Condereit
SS Oberführer Curtze
SS Oberführer Dick
SS Oberführer Ehrbar
SS Oberführer Eichner
SS Oberführer Dr. Etmer
SS Oberführer Hachtel
SS Oberführer Podzum
SS Oberführer Mühe
SS Oberführer Mackeldey
SS Oberführer Fornoni
SS Oberführer Grim
SS Oberführer Haust
SS Oberführer Heberer
SS Oberführer Hugendebel
SS Oberführer Keiselt
SS Oberführer Kollmeyer
SS Oberführer Schriver

These people were definately inducted into the SS in late 1944. This was done in order to
give the fire department access to concentration camp slave labor for clearinig rubble and
putting out fire after the air raids on Berlin and other cities.

First names and birth dates would be nice!! Some could be among the youngest SS
Colonels. Some could be among the oldest SS Colonels!
Sorry wrong again. The following where police generals and were never members of the SS
Generalmajor der Polizei
Richard Buban (Technische Nothilfe)
Dr Hans Hachtel
Hans Podzun
Ludwig Mühe
Lothar Mackeldey
Josef Fornoni (Technische Nothilfe)

Thanks smetanin albert,

The link doesn't say me anything but at least now I've his full DoD and his place of death.
And it's interesting to see that his full name was Lambert von Malsen of Malsen-Ponickau....

Hello Dieter,

I thought that as well but then I saw how they mentioned it on the site Smetanin was referring to.
And seeing that I assumed that would be the correct and full name.

Thanks for letting me know, will change it again right away.

Mike
