"B" is looking from the doorway of the Grosse Halle slightly to the right. The door shown is for the ladies room. There is a similar door to the left, for the gents.
That passageway on the right, will take you to the Sun Room, and from their out onto the terrace.

Re: Berghof Obersalzberg
The large couch facing the fireplace does not seem to be too comfortable.
Poor photo from the book "Hitler's Berghof".
(Hey, who designed this place anyway!)

Re: Berghof Obersalzberg
Beautiful color photo. I've got that book as well.
Interesting to see the paintings in color, gives one
a "glimpse" of the house.

I sent a PM to JohnnyRocket about the floor plans of the Berghof and where he got them.
This is a general request to forum members (and surely has been addressed before! But I'm lazy). Where to get them??

Re: Berghof Obersalzberg
The photo above of the dinning room seems to me to be too short and cramped. Could it be from before the the dining wing was extended?
Those are great photos. Althought they are nothing new to most of us, the clarity and resolution seems unusually high.

Re: Berghof Obersalzberg
The dining room was actually pretty small (short) - it was an intimate dining area for Hitler and his closest entourage, not for a big dinner party. Behind the photographer's viewpoint was a small hallway leading from the kitchen. When the wing was extended, there were further storage rooms, etc., behind the kitchen.

Hmmm. The usual vantage point from the other direction gives the impression of a much more spaceous room.

The only reliable place I know of to get copies of the Berghof plans is http://www.zeitreisen-verlag.de/. In the choices at the left (Warengruppen), click on Brennpunkt Obersalzberg, then click on Baupläne.
These are not actual copies of the original plans in the Bavarian archives, but they are modern architectural redrawings. They are really very good! But they aren't cheap!
I have seen copies from the original archive plans sold on ebay, but not for several years (and they weren't cheap either).
Hope this helps,
Geoff

Thanks Geoff. You (and your website) are great assets for us.

The foundation stone of the Berghof http://www.fpp.co.uk/Hitler/Berghof/Grundstein.html
Does anyone, Geoff maybe?, know where this stone was located at the Berghof. I've seen hundreds of images of the Berghof but have never seen this stone in any of them.

Has anybody seen this? I wonder how and where it was recreated.
