Re: Knight's Cross Holders Identification
Hello, again, Bernd,
A definite confirmation of the award of the KC to Friedrich Memmert presented to him from the hand of General Georg Jauer. I have a pic of the award ceremony in which Mr. Memmert specifically identified the General shown presenting him with the Knight's Cross. Thought I would pass that on to you.
Concerning Ewald Quest and my id'ing him as that of Heinz Korn, I was in error. That picture is indeed of Ewald Quest. Sorry for the mistake on that, as I was under the misleading impression that Heinz Korn was the only member of the RAD to be awarded the Knight's Cross. I apologize to you and others for that.
Thank you.
Take care.
Terry

Hi Terry,
fine, all done what's clear. Of note : I've moved the separate Quest thread to this forum - the other RAD personnel aspect wasn't answered ever. Ewald Quest (KC Flak) visits RAD-Flak

Terry, and all,
Yes, and spot on, out of the few discussions - this or that general - , you've brought it to the right track what still seems to be an irritating and not finally answerd CASE indeed.
The Kurt von der Chevallerie / Herbert Loch / another general ? case.
It's about the page 4 pic, Yes (confirmations list) : Kurt von der Chevallerie
I've two arguments right now : facial features don't match ; not a real match with the Kurt von der Chevallerie photo I have stored as the standard one (in front of the "curtain"), see attachment (converted to paint only this one due to some weired technical reasons).
What makes it a case, is that he is said to be Kurt von der Chevallerie and part of a 4 men EL ceremony at Rastenburg ; see here, from the "Awards personally bestowed by Hitler sticky" - with the full pic (with undoubtedly Gollnick, Wiese and Schlemmer) : http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... 78#p420378
The pic attached allows the conclusion IMO that he was wearing a monocle (left eye!).
Maybe this was solved in the meantime over in the generals id ??
regards
Bernd

Thanks a lot Terry!robertmoore wrote:The naval officer depicted standing to the right and behind FM Rommel is Admiral Theodor Krancke, Chief of Naval Staff West.
The LW officer at the immediate left in the second pic is Hartmann Grasser. The other does not come to mind.
Great! Many thanks joerg!joerg wrote:fangio:

Two pics from Grossdeutschland. I think the one on the second pic is the same officer as on the left of the first pic right?
