Deutschland erwache!

#4

Post by Geli » 23 Aug 2005, 06:21

Does anyone here have a picture of the small song-lyric booklet called Deutschland erwache! Das kleine Nazi-Liederbuch? Do any of you own a copy? I'm curious which songs are listed in it.

Schulmusikbuch für höhere Lehranstalten

#5

Post by Wim » 20 Oct 2007, 15:44

I recently got the book 'Schulmusikbuch für höhere Lehranstalten' from 1936, with a lot of songsheets in it and some songs with songsheets for flüte, violine 1/3, violincello, gesang, klavier.

So any request and if it's in the book i can make a scan. Unfortunately the book is from 1936 the masches after 1936 i don't have in this book but maybe in one of the others.

Lieder zur Julzeit

#6

Post by Vikki » 02 Dec 2007, 22:23

Below are some scans from a booklet of songs called Lieder zur Julzeit, published by the SS-Hauptamt, including the table of contents. I can scan the words and music for any others of these songs you'd like to see.

Best,

Hello Vikki,

I enjoyed your post. This is a nice example of the secular Yuletide as celebrated by the SS. Note Baumann's "Hohe Nacht....." and it's decidedly non-religious lyrics.

Komm, sing froh! (1940)

#8

Post by Hexar » 31 Jan 2009, 19:30

I found this songbook a few years ago, then loaned it to a friend that plays piano. It took a full year to get it back :x , but here it is. I scanned the cover and first few pages. There are over 100 pages and many songs. The songs in the first half are in Sutterlin script and seem very simple, the second half is standard block printing and the music appears more complex. I cannot read music or German, so I have no idea what the songs are about. The book has a 1940 publishing date, but surprisingly there are no swastikas anywhere in the book. Thanks, Hexar

Hi,

nice find. It's a schoolbook for music lessons ('Come on [... or join in], sing happily!' or so) approved by the Ministry of Education for elementary schools in Berlin. On pic 2 the owner Karin Zunker seems to have practiced different styles of her signature (I remember having done that myself when I was a kid, tempus fugit... ). She lived in Berlin-Marienfelde, Hirzerweg.
Interestingly, the first part of the book seems to have also been intended as a primer or spelling book ('Singfibel'), sth. like an attempt at cross-disciplinary education or so (think of the question of the 'modernity' of TR...). As you mentioned, no swastika, but at least chapter 'Volk und Fahne' seems to be a concession. I don't know much about it, but if you're interested, there's a field called 'international/comparative textbook research'.

Thanks Frank. I really have no use for this book as I'm not a researcher or musician.

I have scanned the entire songbook. I uploaded it to photobucket for the benefit of our members that can sing and play music. 8-)

Enjoy! Hexar http://s106.photobucket.com/albums/m277 ... ng%20Froh/
