Hello, Fangio,

The GD officer on the left looks like Walter von Wietersheim.

Hope this helps.

Take care.

Terry, you're amazing!

How about Fangio's pix, we agree on Wietersheim... But who's the officer on the right? I believe he is Broichsitter. How about you, Terry?

Hi AlifRafikKhan,

I have deleted the last post here - general captured by British from LIFE collection -. It is the same pic you posted on page 264. To answer what you are thinking right now - if I'm correct this id was moved from the generals id sticky. So, Yes, no double post here by you ! But, please don't post the same pic in both stickies. Your decision. More than once we said and more or less agreed that this sticky is for KC Holders and the other one for generals and admirals.

And, the Bundesarchiv photo with von Hünersdorff and von Oppeln-Bronikowski we had already on page 245. Very many of the BA/wikimedia pics we had already. Starting appr. with page 200/210. To avoid double postings of this kind the double pic was deleted, too ; see your edited post with the link to the identical pic.

Thanks for understanding and Best regards
Bernd

Hello, Bernd,

Many thanks for your detailed analysis of the pic of Loch/von der Chevallerie. I agree that, after due consideration, that the four depicted officers were part of an EL award ceremony which would effectively eliminate Loch as a possibility. However, I am still stymied by the glasses. Any ideas? I am just curious.

Various. I am in the process of completing school which is keeping me from doing more on this list. Another two weeks and I will be able to. Thus, the lack of posting pix at this time.

I shall also have an id for the naval officer I mis-id'd as Hardegen. More on that later.

In any case, thank you for your patience and it is a great honor to be associated with such a wonderful group of experts.
For me, it is so refreshing.

Take care and thanks to you for all you do and to the members of this group.

Hello, Fangio, Ruslan M and AliRafikKhan,

Regarding the pic of Walter von Wietersheim and the other officer variously identified as Beck-Broichsitter, I am of the opinion that it is Bernhard Klemz and for the following reasons:

1. Beck-Broichsitter's lips are fuller than those of Klemz.

2. If you compare the facial features of Bernhard Klemz in other photos, you will notice that there is a noticeable indentation in the lower chin area and that is to be found in this photo, as well.

3. I think the occasion for that picture may be found in the fact that Walter von Wietersheim was awarded his KC on 15 May 1944. Bernhard Klemz was awarded the decoration on 4 Jun 1944. In other words, within three weeks of each other, the two depicted were awarded the KC. This may have been the occasion that brought them together in the first place and was the motivation for this picture. A stretch, mind you, but a possibility.

Anyway, all this leads me to believe that the depicted officer at the left of von Wietersheim is Bernhard Klemz.

Hope this helps.

Take care.

Terry

Hi,

Terry, thanks for your post! He responded to many questions. And I would like to note one more moment, Bernhard Klemz received his RK as commander of 5 panzer company. 5 company was a part of II.Battalion (commander Walter von Wietersheim).

Best wishes :)

@Horatio2,
glad you did it ! First idea : connected to the Slovakian Schnelle Division perhaps ?

Re: Klemz
convincing arguments to me.

@Terry,
thanks, same here ! Hm, Yes, quite difficult or quite easy. Either it is Kurt von der Chevallerie in fact. Or.. - I made a first look through my Oakleaves database and generals which might fit concerning the OL date (part of the ceremony?) and do have some matching facial features are : Erich Brandenberger and Sigfrid Henrici. still ??

Bernd R: No Fast division, but Ensured division in Bielorus. My first idea. My friedn, historic Palo Mičianik, who write books about slovak army in East Front 1941-1944 volume I. , II. say, that it is training in east slovakia.Because I need know who is the slovak offizier and so I know, where is this photo. I know, that photo of german officier is no good quality, but photo is very small.

Catched up with page 264 with regard to the current ids and handling and done most of the points from the previous 2nd round reviews.
As there were positive ids and/or no objections there are on the index now : Arthur Lühr, Albert Latz, Emil Vogler, Karl Eglseer, SG5 ceremony (group pic). The confirmations list has : Ernst Sorge, August Sorko, Otto Hartmann, Kurt von Tippelskirch, and the page 105 group pics (KG 53, Pz.Jg./Stug men).

Not identified from the previous pages including a time period before (mentioned again due to the high traffic) :
page 256 : SM0497 , KM RKT, by Jeroen

page 258 : PIC_2-665.jpg , SM0666

page 259 : SM0683 , BA Unknown Warsaw August 1944.jpg

page 260 : unk rkt Waffen-SS russland.jpg

page 262 : Bild 133.jpg , 04_21_09123a.jpg

page 264 : 2nd pic by Alif, general captured by British

and a confirmation : BA pic: v. Vietinghoff, with Georg Stumme ?

Thanks and regards
Bernd
