Hello,
a bit more of Sophie Fikentscher. If you know how she looks you start recognizing her. Here she's twice as a photo in the photo.

Gaufrauenschaftsleiterinnen bits and pieces
Hello,
some more details on the Gaufrauenschaftsleiterinnen based on an essay by Anette Michel (2007).
According to Michel more than 80 women are known to have served as Gaufrauenschaftsleiterin.
Baden:
According to Michel one Hildegard Erley, a female MD, was Gaufrauenschaftsleiterin for some time.
Berlin:
The first name of Frau von Gustedt was Elisabeth.
Essen:
Thea Bollmann was the wife of Ernst Bollmann, former Kreisleiter of Moers and then Lord Mayor (Oberbürgermeister) of Oberhausen. She was born in Rotterdam in 1904.
Franken:
Berta Lämmermeyr (spelling according to Michel) was a rabid anti-semite to the liking of Julius Streicher. His downfall seems to have put an end to her career also.
Generalgouvernement:
The administration of the Generalgouvernement (occupied Poland) instituted an office equalling that of a Gaufrauenschaftsleiterin in July 1940. The official title was 'Beauftragte der NSDAP für Fraueneinsatz im Generalgouvernement'. The office was held by Melanie Aldinger till 1945.
Halle-Merseburg:
Eva Leistikow committed suicide at the end of the war.
Köln-Aachen:
Frieda von Hofmann went underground in 1945 and, without being detected, lived in a hamlet in Thuringia for more than three years. In late 1948 she returned to West Germany and contacted authorities for her de-nazification trial.
München-Oberbayern:
GFL Luise Römmelt had an affair with Gauleiter Adolf Wagner for some time which resulted in a son born out of wedlock. According to Michel this was an open secret in Munich at the time. Römmelt lost her office when the relationship with Wagner broke up.
Oberschlesien:
Hildegard Spelda was Gaufrauenschaftsleiterin till 1945.
Rheinpfalz:
According to Michel Pauline Schwitzgebel was Gaufrauenschaftleiterin. She was the wife of Fritz Schwitzgebel, Lord Mayor (Oberbürgermeister) of Saarbrücken.
Wartheland:
Helga Thrö later seems to have changed her family name to 'Schmidt-Thrö', probably due to marriage.

Re: NS Frauenschaft Gaufrauenschaftsführerin
Hi,
caught another one. Former opera singer Meta Mischka-Grahé from Gau Südhannover-Braunschweig could not refrain from decorating the frontispiece of her 1938 autobiography with a photo of herself. So here she is: References:

Gaufrauenschaftsleiterin Karla Mayer
Hello,
found something interesting about Karla Mayer, the Gaufrauenschaftsleiterin of Steiermark (Styria) in Mindler (2006, pp.129).
Karla Mayer was a minion of Styrian Gauleiter Siegfried Uiberreither (as was to be expected). In April 1940 however Mayer was arrested, imprisoned for two weeks and then sacked by Deputy Gauleiter Tobias Portschy.
There are two versions why this happened. According Mayer's own post-war description she held a share in an enterprise that was owned by a Half-Jewess. Portschy on the other hand writes in his diary that Mayer and her brother confessed embezzlement of Jewish property when interrogated by party officials so he had to hand over the case to the police.
The relationship between Uiberreither and Portschy was generally tense and Portschy may have taken the opportunity of Uiberreither's absence for military service to reduce the Uiberreither faction in the Gauleitung. He even intended to have Mayer ousted from the NSDAP but a court trial planned for her was cancelled subsequently.
In 1944 Mayer was arrested again, this time for defeatist remarks. Allegedly she had refused to donate money to a NSDAP collector with the words that she didn't intend to prolong the war. For these words she was expelled from the NSDAP by the party court in Graz on Jan. 27th, 1945.

Re: NS Frauenschaft Gaufrauenschaftsführerin
Very interesting info about the ultimate expulsion of a woman party member. If it had been a man so late in the war one wonders if there might have been a harsher verdict, as a defeatist.
