On this occasion, Yes, identified Hans Siegler Identical photo also on page 145.

This one was also identified as Hans Siegler - Hans Siegler . Another request by you Krollspell. This has to be a wrong id. Siegler's last rank was Oberjäger = Uffz., the pic shows a Feldwebel. And it doesn't look like the same person.
1) Correct ?
2) Who is this ?

Hello Bernd!

The pic that Semenov posted is definitely Hans Siegler according to two other sources... The same photograph is also in Breyette & Bender's "Tank Killers - History of the Tank Destruction Badge" (2000) and identified as Hans Siegler of the JägRgt 49. And then on www.das-ritterkreuz.de you have another angle of Hans Siegler where you can see that his EK-I is pinned in the same unusually high position on his chest.

I still haven't got any clue of who the other RKT is, that I posted a question on before. The search continues... :?

Ah, found him!

In Breyette & Bender's (2000) book he (our RKT Feldwebel from page 144 wrongly identified as "Hans Siegler") is identified as Andreas Greiner of the JägRgt 75. It's the same photograph...

And here's another photograph of Greiner from http://www.das-ritterkreuz.de

G'day Krollspell.

Thanks for the pic of Walter Wriedt.

I'm a distant relative and have produced a website that has a distinct Gebirgsjaeger flavour !

Hello John!

It's a nice website of yours on the 3. Gebirgs-Division and Walter Wriedt. I also have relatives that served in the same division early in the war. If you need some pre-Anschluss photographs of the Austrian Alpenjäger predecessor regiments of this Division, see the followng link... (Unfortunately, the pics have been cropped on the rigth side).

Hello Krollspell,

thanks, all the revirement done, and the different pics of Siegler and Greiner added to the index, too. I should have refered to that also - Greiner is on page 231 again, id'ed by George (that raised the doubts back then). So, we had a decent double check and a full clarification. The third identical pic of Siegler (pp. 124, 145) the site before has been deleted.

Best regards
Bernd
