Hello,

thank you for showing this one. I don't know who he is! But it is not von Tiesenhausen. In the moment I prefer Klaus Scholtz, but this is not the final opinion. I hope he is not. Could be more rare. Like Fenski! The location looks a little bit sunny. Could be in the mediteranian sea! I prefer submarin KC holders to all the others. I bought the picture .....!

Will be back soon!

I'm not convinced. I identified von Tiesenhausen on the basis of the chequered collar of his shirt he is also wearing on the other famous pic with KC - just awarded - and a bouquet of flowers. I recommend a comparing view.

There was no sun, when von Tiesenhausen came in. I think it is a rare one. Take a look at the Krupp-Germania card! It ius totally different.

Hello, Dieter Z, Docarchiv, and others.

I have compared the well-known pic of Tiesenhausen with the checked shirt and comparing the checks and/or stripes of both he and the depicted and there is a difference.

I also notice that the cap eagle and swastika device on the depicted's cap does not slant to the left as it does in the Tiesenhausen pic with the swastika portion angled to the right. It is difficult to see if the Tiesenhausen pic has a "smile" in the cap, as it does in the pic posted on Page 309.

In any case, I would suggest that the depicted is not von Tiesenhausen. Not really sure who it is, but I do not think it is von Scholtz.

Wish I could say definitively, at this point. At least without more research.

Take care.

Hello, again, Dieter Z., Docarchiv and others,

I also just noticed that von Tiesenhausen is wearing his blue uniform at the time of the award of the KC. The depicted is not.

Hope this helps.

Take care.

Hello,

take a look at Fenski, Folkers or Heydemann. They are very rare. If we could see an ear, it would be much easier. But he will not show us.

Hi, I am almost certain that this photo was taken at La Spezia Naval Arsnel in Italy. Tiesenhausen received his Knights Cross at Salamis in Greece. Not to say that he wasn't sent to Italy for Propaganda photos. later.

Hello, Alabamaguy,

Doubtful. If Tiesenhausen had been awarded the KC in Greece and the pix I have show him with it draped around his neck as in the depiction on Page 310, I think, he would have had time to affix it properly around his neck in a more presentable fashion for a propaganda show.

I think, it is clear that the depiction on Page 310 is not that of von Tiesenhausen.

Take care.

Hi Terry, I looked at some photos of the La Spezia Naval Yard and the arched warehouses at the Arsenal match those in your photo. You are probably correct that it is not Tiesenhausen. I checked U-bootwaffe.com and T. was not transferred from Salamis to La Spezia until March 1942, three months after the award. Best regards from Montgomery, Alabama.

3509754.jpg (55.03 ) / page 309 [added, Bernd, Mod]
Hello,

it is not: Schonder, von Tiesenhausen, Guggenberger, Rosenbaum, von Schlippenbach, Kelbling, Dommes, Jahn, Kraus, Mehl, Brandi. I have or know photographs of their awards.

So, who is it? I will send a copy to Manfred Dörr!

All the ids and open ids up to page 309 are on the index, thanks everyone !

One "new" id : page 248 - SM123.jpg is
Johann Jungkunst (autograph)
the same photo is on page 296 and was identified there earlier.

Three doubles detected and captioned which are on the index already (identical pic) :
page 133 - Heinz Ewald ; = page 303
page 84 - Josef Block ; = page 139
page 240 - Christian Braun ; = page 231

Best regards
Bernd

Re : 3509754.jpg

There was no confirmation for von Tiesenhausen, to the contrary a number of counter-arguments.

See attached a pic of Folkers. Difficult to say for me at the moment..
(photo source : my files : net download / source unknown ; I have to choose the "exception rule" this time in order trying to solve this case. The same and equal right for all of course in similar cases, thanks)
