Knight's Cross Holders Identification
Re: Knight's Cross Holders Identification
docarchiv,
Reinhard Hardegen on page 22 is identified already. See the "quote" feature with name inside.
page 332 : A 1 LW10.jpg is Robert "Bazi" Weiß indeed.
Anil, Dieter, George,
page 330 : Erich Litzke
For any reason the posting by Anil "jumped" back from page 331 to 330 today. Most likely as a consequence of an edit (or an edit another page before).

Franz Mintert done, thanks docarchiv !
There are 2-3 doubles inside, in particular the original shot uncoloured. If anyone detects one, give a hint please.
Peter Gaßmann done, thanks docarchiv and chris44 !
What about Luft1.jpg above Gaßmann ? One of JG 27 in North Africa ?

The man to the right is the previously identified Max Wippermann, too. Michael Fischer is the newly decorated. The other two are still unknown.

Hello,
the man on the left is Otto Gemünden! Tell the other one to show me his face. He is not on the pics I saw at Gemünden's home.

Re: Knight's Cross Holders Identification
The Franz Mintert coloured version we had with the id by docarchiv.
As said inside are as well :
page 89 : Franz Mintert original b/w version
page 47 : Franz Mintert first request
of note : unk.jpg , the pic below the Mintert page 47 pic, doesn't show him IMO. Depicted is a Oblt. if I'm correct, the last rank of Mintert was Uffz.
Re: group of 4 Flak Offz
thanks docarchiv ! We can live with the fourth man not visible really, I think. If we are extremely good, we eventually will find out based on the award date / award ceremony at a later time.
Best regards
Bernd

Re: Knight's Cross Holders Identification
Hi all,
we had successful 1st round and 2nd round reviews with a good amount of new ids, clarifications and confirmations. There is still remaining the "no id" list - first part of the index on page 1. I know and we have seen it that a number of the crew here is going through the pages in an attempt to find answers for the open points. Let's keep on trying to go for the ideal and to downsize the "no id" to zero. Thanks in advance for your continious engangement and contributions !
I will go on with the "review" element and therefore and hereby start with the 3rd round review.
Without doubt, this "3rd" will become more difficult and for sure it will be a slower process. Nevertheless, ideally and most likely it will produce results, based on the assumption that a repeated presentation of a case will ring a bell of somebody now. So, the reviews will be a mix of repetitions plus summaries, new details, new/qualified questions, etc. And a few ids/answers hopefully, suggestions at least. (right now this is an agenda, open end)
The first 3rd round review covers the pages 1 - 10 : (starting with the repeated presentaion of three cases)
1) Listed on the confirmations list :
Ulrich Freiherr von Canstein
see summary of this case / questions on page 242
for comparisn : von Canstein drawing
comment : nothing new ; the main argument again : if one detail of the photo is correct - Bremerhaven - there is an impossible match with von Canstein.
2) the officer in "Wintertarnjacke" :
page 1 : Rk5.jpg
and
page 313 : 45.92 (again, page 1, too)
3) the "GD" NCO
page 7 : RK 6001_11.jpg
member Juha Hujanen suggested more detailed :
That pic of GD RK winner is also in Holzträger-In Raging Inferno book and caption says that pic is taken in 44.
So he is Hindelang or:
Wilhelm Czorny
Hans Klemm
Willi Kessel
Fritz Plickat
Hans Roger
Hans Sachs
Wilhelm Wegner
