before the swords
Hello all,
Here is a shot before he got his swords, and I believe it is the same RK as in the previous image. He even was awarded the swords while holding the same rank.

Knight's Cross Holders Photo Database
Announcement
Back in 2003 the Knight's Cross Holders Identification sticky was started to have one place for the identification of KC Holders. Later the index was added. Right now there are listed appr. 1.175 different recipients there. If you think about a next step of that sticky, one of the ideas you can have is : why shouldn’t we go for a compilation of ALL Knight’s Cross Holders ? The installation of a
RKT photo database
Well, with the highest respect in view of this aim I would like to say Yes, let’s do this. This thread is hereby started and intended to become the AHF RKT photo database.
The index is installed below.
Don’t fear any artificial “bureaucracy” but here are a few regulations just to have a fine running :
1) Quality rules over quantity. The database doesn’t need masses of pics for one person. The important thing is to have a reference pic. The number of photos for one KC Holder is limited to 2-3.
2) Ideally provide a half-length portrait.
3) Ideally provide photos with a good depth of focus.
A second string of this project is the attempt to find very rare if not “non-existing” photos for a number of appr. 200 KC Holders. Still during the war and through all the decades after the war never ever a photo of these recipients was published or became known. To the best for some of those a low-quality newspaper pic became known. That’s what experienced collectors and researchers tell us. You find the “special” thread here :
Special RKT photo database : appr. 200 unknown !?
You have always access to it easily via this link.
Many thanks in advance for posting photos from your own collection, your familiy archives, from published or un-published works, or from online sites. Give proper credit always, please. Take notice of the forum guidelines about attaching photos -> http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic.php?p=5&f=2#p5 , thanks !

The aspect of the legitimacy of a number of KCs (late war awards in very most cases) is not part of this photo database project. Once results and conclusions out of a more general and broad discussion (or future works on that issue) will affect the final edit and listing here perhaps. Meanwhile the listing will represent the status quo according to the newest major work on RKTs by author Veit Scherzer. So, all KC Holders where is no proof for a "de jure" award according to the regulations will be listed, too, but with a add-on "unofficial".
For a start and a background on this matter see here for example -> cancelled KC holders / state of the science / KC lists, make a forum search to find other discussions and single cases and draw your own conclusions.
