Re: info required on Polish glider badge
Kevin 1947,
From POLISH ORDERS, MEDAL, BADGES, AND INSIGNIA MILITARY and CIVILIAN DECORATIONS 1705-1985 by ZDZISLAW P. WESOLOWSKI......Pg. 204 Fig. 701: "Air Force Qualification Badges" section.
GLIDER PILOT. Silver oval cutout circle with Glider plane in center. Established in 1945 and first awarded to Pilots taking part in the Market Garden Operation. 48mm x 27mm. Maker: Kirkwood and son, Edinburgh".
There is also a version with a Gold wreath around the bottom of the oval circle- (Fig. 702) which was for "landing" on enemy territory.....
No question this must be rare....no idear what kind of value it has......but Polish WW2 stuff is GOOD STUFF collectorwise! Congradulations, you have a winner!

Re: info required on Polish glider badge
This is Mr Wesolowski's mistake. This badge is not "Glider Pilot" because the UK-based both Polish Army and Polish Air Forces have never had military glider pilots. All 45 Horsas with the Poles towed to Market-Garden area were piloted by the British pilots. This badge is for the Polish gliderborne infantry. The Polish servicemen have never initiated even one hour of education and training to be Horsa pilot.John G. wrote: ↑07 May 2011, 23:02Kevin 1947,
