Sturm78,

I'm thinking instead of a 274 mm Mle 1881 on a "M 1888 PC" carriage when comparing with the pictures on the website fortiff.be under French fortifications > Armement> canon de 27c.

Is someone able to read German cursive from WW2 and write what is written on the picture? That would tell us where the picture has been taken and we could then cross-referenced the gun type.

It is a French "canon de 164 Mle 1893-96 sur affût C Mle 1923 SF". The location is possibly around Cherbourg, either the Amfreville battery or the Castel-Vendon battery.

For 240 Mle 1903 TR guns, I think that it could be the Toulbroch battery in Brittany but I'm not 100% sure.

Hi all,

I need help with these two guns:

Image 1: I think it is the same gun that the image posted on 14 Dec 2010, identified by Emmanuel as a 240 mm Mle 1876 sur affût Mle 1911

Sturm78,

Image 1: I agree with you

Image 2: I'm not sure if it is a "canon de 27 c 1870M" (274 mm) or a "canon de 24 c (240 mm) 1867". Both would be on the same carriage (I think) "affût M1876 T83PA".

I think that it is a "240 mm Mle 1876 sur affût C Mle 1911" of the Albrech battery near Boulogne.
