Hi Guys,
Give me half an hour. Will translate it for all.
Give me half an hour. Will translate it for all.
Re: 1945 Lost German girl
Ok, here goes. I hope this translation is accurate enough.
Hallo!
“Hallo!
A few short explanations before I present here some evidence in a few days (unfortunately in German!) I am not sure if I have not already gone too far with all this. I would like to emphasise that LGG is very anxious about her private affairs. The footage from then has been viewed all over thousands of times and she is worried that this will be blown out of proportions and that there will be unscrupulous money making should this really happen. I believe this too and am also afraid of this. Someone will receive financial gain out of her terrible ordeal.”
"She was repeatedly raped and beaten by several men over the period of two days. Picture a documentary at the best transmission time slots at a given TV station, even against my grandmothers wishes, obviously with the soon to follow “Book to the Movie”.”
Da steckt selbstverständlich Geld drin! Dies will meine Großmutter auf gar keinem Fall!
“There is definitely money to be gained. My grandmother does not want this under no circumstances. It is really her wish that should money be gained with her, that the costs of a possible publication be covered and that the possible gained additional profits be given to a charity for ramped women or to be donated to refugees.”
"This is her wish and I respect and admire it very much! To finish, a further Note: I personally believe that her saving grace with regards to this whole matter where foreign, non-german SS men that, “shortly before the end” and in the chaos of the resolve risked their own lives, as well as some US soldiers, that helped an unknown enemy regardless of the horrors that they most likely saw on the way from Nazi Germany en route to Czechoslovakia."LGG" was damn lucky and thousand guardian angels. "
"A different twist or an encounter with a different persona in this whole happening and “LGG” would have been finished. The name “SS-Girl” in the notes from Mr. Haglund was most likely derived from incorrect translations about her fate prior to the filming in a conversation with some US Soldiers. This to the fact that she had encounters with SS men prior to this !?”
"The only possession, after her prior ordeal , that remained and was also saved by the SS men was her Savings book, her Workbook, photos and some money that the SS men took away from the “Insurgents” and was placed into her hands. I personally suspect that it was the savings book with the photos as well as some money notes that “LGG” carried during the footage.“
”Even she cannot remember the details of this. By the way, the few Czech banknotes from that time still exist, “LGG” could not spend them in the destroyed and occupied Germany. And yes, it was Skoda where “LGG” worked and with that I might have already said too much."

Re: 1945 Lost German girl
That is a good translation.
Hats off.
Read it in German before, but it is some good info about what happened to her. My deepest respect.
Now I'm really curious about a contemporary picture from Mathilde.
If that picture has not been on the web before, I am sure there won't be anything in it to find out who she is.

Vielen Dank hsa601!

This is the translation from the edited last part.
And yes, it was “Skoda” where “LGG” worked, the pants in the footage where not her own and it was somewhere between Pilsen and Rokucany where all this happened and with that I might have said too much already. Maybe I am subconsciously dealing with the terrible war experiences at the cost of my Gran by writing here in the Forum? Who knows? I would be really sorry for that.
Best wishes and thank you all for your patience with me.

Re: 1945 Lost German girl
Fair play to come out and tell this story.
I fully agree, that the identity of your grandmother should be protected.
My parents had similar experiences.
Auch meine Eltern haben aehnliches erfahren.
I wish your grandmother health and many years to come!

Re: 1945 Lost German girl
hi guys. I have been following the LGG's topic maybe for 2 years with great interest. I didnt want to interfere as I was not able to provide a plus to your meticulous research. However I have to say that your enthusiastic endeavor to resolve the mystery and to finally find LGG had deserved a happy end. I'm very exiting for the appearance of Stefan and for the news he brought. LGG still alive, enjoying a good life after war and having a nice family is really great to hear it. Stefan posts convinced me that he is indeed the LGG Granson and I'm sure that soon we shall have indubitable proofs of the story. Thank you guys for stubbornly continuing the detective work for such a long time.

Wasn't it Ronald Regan that loved the phrase "Trust but verify".Harro wrote:I agree with Marcus that this mystery is far from closed as long as we have not seen a photo from the 1940s which can be compared with the footage from 1945. No offence, but for the moment there's nothing in Stefans story that can be verified. I underline this because we've had several cases in the past of people who claimed to be veterans but turned out to be fantasist with fairy stories.
I guess the question is what information would be needed to verify the claims without compromising her right to privacy.

Too many words, no evidence.

Re: 1945 Lost German girl
I would say a photo from the 1940s or 1950s would compromise her privacy less than a recent photo and would also be easier to compare with the 1945 footage.Zapphod wrote:Wasn't it Ronald Regan that loved the phrase "Trust but verify".Harro wrote:I agree with Marcus that this mystery is far from closed as long as we have not seen a photo from the 1940s which can be compared with the footage from 1945. Re: 1945 Lost German girl
I have to agree on this. Has anything truly corroborative been offered beyond what has previously been speculated on in this thread? A clear foto could do it with a reasonable degree of accuracy without compromising any sense of privacy. Otherwise this girl, sorry to say so harshly, didn't exist beyond the Haglund film.ignacioosacar wrote:Dear Forum,

Flame away if you will, but if you're interested in solving this "mystery" that has so captivated everybody then you must step aside and view and evaluate the evidence clinically. Only then can you afford to be sentimental about it.

Re: 1945 Lost German girl
IMHO, let’s give Stefan a chance. If all this is 100% genuine, there are a lot of emotional obstacles that need to be overcome by LGG and Stefan.
To all the respected researchers in this forum and I really mean that, let us see where this goes. Some patience I am sure all are willing to give.

There doesn't seem to be much pressure and chances are being given as far as I can see.
