Vladimir Putin Father war record

.
I've been researching some background on V. Putin family history

his father Vladimir spiridonovitch Putin is recorded as having served in the submarine arm of the Soviet Navy before the war , enlisted as a volunteer at the outbreak of WW2 and fought in the Leningrad front
there is mention of him having served in the 5th rifle corps 86th division 330th regiment
he is mentioned as having taken part around the fall of 1941 in a behind the line raid against a Wehrmacht depot in Estonia ,
while escaping they were denounced by Estonian to the Germans out of 48 men only 2 came back to the Soviet lines ,
Vladimir spiridonovitch being one of the two ,
as soon as he was back he was send into the first attempt to break the siege
the 330th regiment crossed the Neva under fire to support one of the bridgeheads whose progress was stalled
the Bridge-head was enlarged a little. It had a dimensions 3000 to 800 meters in that times.
But 16.10.1941 Germans began advance to Tichvin and Volkhov and Soviet 54th army could not help in the opposite direction
Soviet attempts to attack from the Bridge-head lasted till the end of October.
Putin father was grievously wounded then , he was brought back across the Neva , under machine gun fire ,by a neighbor
the guy dumped him in a first air station and said good by to go back to his unit ( again under fire )
both though that was the last they would see each other , Putin senior looked like he was a goner and the neighbor chance of surviving being around zero , a few years later to each other surprise they met , both quite alive .

I'm not quite sure about the details and would welcome any correction
in particular.... why would a rifleman be send in a behind the line mission , that was the stuff for OMSBON unit of the NKVD
the family had a very good political record ,the grand father was a cook to Lenin widow and had on a few occasion cooked for Stalin, so he was ranked as reliable ( else he would have been dead )
the father was given a small position after the war as a communist supervisor in a Leningrad factory , this would indicate some ( very small ) standing as a reliable party member .
it would have helped the present Vladimir whose track record was very patchy to say the least ,
he was refused entry into the Komsomol for being too rowdy , everybody was in the Komsomol ,
to be rejected was like a U.S. boy being refused entry into the boy scouts !
still at University he was co-opted to get into the KGB ??

86 Rifle Division/5 Rifle Corps was destroyed in Belorussia in June/July 1941. 86(II) Rifle Division was a former Leningrad militia division renamed in September 1941 and had nothing to do with 5 Rifle Corps which didn't exist by that moment.
he is mentioned as having taken part around the fall of 1941 in a behind the line raid against a Wehrmacht depot in Estonia
According to an interview near Kingisepp which is in Russia actually.

Quite a typical story for the Leningrad militia:
227 partisan detachments were also created, but only 67 were sent into combat with a total of 2,886 personnel to operate behind German lines

Why, one wonders, is this information available of Putin's father in particular?

Would it be available for any Soviet other rank?

.
Well their third son did achieve some pre eminence , I was checking his biography
across the web there is a wide , and wild amount , of statement about his background
I though this site is about as well informed as they come and value facts ( or approximate ) over fantasy

Hi randwick,

I was not making a criticism of you for digging this out.

I was just idly wondering by what route this obscure information might have emerged and to whose advantage.

It is interesting, nonetheless.

Thanks,

Sid

Although this is an old thread, President Putin gave an interview with RT News in April 2015 in which he shared more details about his family's experiences during WW2. https://www.rt.com/news/254445-putin-fa ... ails-wwii/

His father would have received at least one yellow wound stripe and the Medal "For the Defence of Leningrad", does anyone know if he was awarded anything else like an Order of the Red Star?
