It is a German "150 MM KL 40 in Küstenlafette C 07 Verschwindlafette" a 150 mm gun on a dissappearing carriage.

Umhhh...Are you sure ?? :?
I think it is a larger caliber gun ... maybe 21cm or 24cm...
You can see the large size of the cartridge of ammunition, clearly too large to be 15cm

I still believe that this is a 150 mm. I do not believe that the large cylindrical object is a charge but is the base for the sighting periscopes which were located on either side of the gun. If you look at the square box for the loading mechanism at the rear of the mount you will see a square hole in which you can see a projectile on the loading tray. It is much closer in size to a 150 mm than a larger caliber. While my knowledge of WW i german coastal guns is not as great as of US, I know of no heaver gun used by the Germans on a dissappearing carriage. As always I could be mistaken.

Hello Sturm78 .
Thanks for a interesting photo of 27 July 2015 .

It looks as an 21 cm SKL/45 in Verschwindlafette to me . Notice that the gun
has an horisontal breech block , the 15 cm KL / 40 in Küstenlafette C / 07
had vertical breech block . If you compare the gun barrel with photos /
postcard from Essen in 1913 it matches .

Krupp produced at least 3x different types of Verschwindlafette :
24 x guns 15 cm KL/40 in Küstenlafette for 5 x CD batteries
at Danzig , Swindemünde and Borkum

1 x gun 21 cm SKL/45 prototype at Essen Later Meppen

4 x guns 28 cm Kst. K . L/45 in Verschwindlafette for the Belgian coastal
fort Doel outside Antwerpen . These guns were confiscated by the Germans
in 1914 and later used in Battery Deich ,Wilhelmshaven - But in WW 2 some
of these gun barreles reappeared as 28 cm schwere Bruno rail guns . Two
28 cm schwere Bruno railway guns survived in Norway in 1950 s .

Ludvig,

This excerpt of a 1910 German document mentions a 21 cm L/40 from Krupp. It looks the same as on the postcard. But the guns on the 1910 drawing and on the postcard still look different from Sturm78's picture: they do not have a large ring at the main rotation axis and have no ring at the second axis. In addition, they have a three-segment barrel compared to what look like two segments on Sturm78' picture. :?

Once again the if you look at the shell visible on the loading tray, in comparison with the crew members, it cannot be larger than 150 mm.

Here are pictures of the "15-cm KL/40 in Küstenlafette C/07" (Verschwindlafette):
http://landships.activeboard.com/t35010 ... /?r=507727.

You can see that the gun is indeed installed in the mounting with the breech in vertical position. In addition, there is no large ring around the main rotation axis. If it is a 15 cm gun based on the shell size, and not a 21 cm SK L/45, it could not be a 15 cm SK L/40.

Separately, are the German uniforms on the picture WW1 uniforms or Reichswehr uniforms?
