Re: Sockellafetten Sk-L
Hello
Here is a picture of the last of the three known emplacements for Sockellafetten in the Versuchsstelle at Blåvand. This concrete pedestal was build for the late type of Sockellafette I and is the same type as used in the Regelbau 704. The type of the gun mounted on this pedestal is not known.
In the autumn of 1944 it was decided to produce 80 Sockellafetten with 7,5 cm Pak 40, and in December 1944 it was decided to fit them with simple shields instead of the Gürtelpanzer, because there was no time to build Regelbau 704 bunkers. At least 55 concrete pedestals with 7,5 cm Pak 40 were finished on the Western Front in March 1945 (source: NARA). The photo attached shows one of them (from Neil Short: Germany’s West Wall).

Evening everyone
Very nice and interesting thread! I did a little excavating in the Versuchsstelle this weekend. Attached some pictures of the Pre-design of the 704 in Blåvand. Very special! I really thought it was for a 5cm KwK as well. So thanks for the info Lars.

Also did a bit of digging in the Pre 700 for the presumed Sockellafette III. Nice to finally see some pictures of these prototypes! Any idea what guns were actually mounted in the Versuchsstelle in Blåvand Lars? I know the French 15,5cm in the Ringstand, but besides that??

Re: Sockellafetten Sk-L
Hello Tønnes
Nice to hear from you, and thanks for the pictures. Seems that you knew where to dig for the (presumed) SKL-III-bunker, and I guess that your shovel was bigger than the field spade I used
There is a strange cut-out in either side of the embrasure of the (presumed) SKL-I-bunker. I wonder what their purpose was?
It might seem that there is a cantilevered concrete roof (“Todt-Scharte”) over the embrasure, but I am not sure. I remember that I measured a niche (50 cm high, 15 cm deep) over the embrasure, and I supposed that this was for a Stirnpanzer plate (like used on the Regelbau 704). But hard to say because the entire outer front wall is buried under the sand.
An interesting detail is that the eight bolts in the bunker at Blåvand are identical with those used for the 5 cm Behelfssockellafette (but the usual cut-out in the floor in the middle of the bolt circle is missing).
The SKL-I was developed in 1943 as a replacement for the 5 cm BH-SKL, and it was planned that it could be installed in the same bunkers. This may indicate that the bunker at Blåvand was actually build for the SKL-I.
The imprints in the floor of the (presumed) SKL-III-bunker are interesting, because they indicate that a SKL was actually installed. The dimensions of the embrasure fit very well with the SKL-III, but I have always wondered if a SKL was ever installed, because it is not possible to pass a SKL of that size through the entrance door. Maybe it was cut to pieces and removed from the bunker, but then some traced should have been left, and I did not find one single piece of iron.
I have some stuff about the Versuchsstelle. I will post it in a separate thread.

Re:
Regarding to description on plate it is a 3,7 KwK gun on wooden carriage used in street fights in Festung Thorn (Toruń, Poland) to shoot from windows or hidden positions.jopaerya wrote: 3,7 cm K.w.K. was also used in the Panzer III, so I think that the 3,7 cm K.w.K. gun also used the Sk-L I.
Picture comes from Moscow exhibition of captured nazi weapon - 2 pieces of such gun were shown.

Re: Sockellafetten Sk-L
Hello
Thanks for this great photo. It is the first picture I have seen of this type of Sockellafette.
The Holzsockellafette for 3,7 cm KwK was to be built on site by the troops. Three designations are known:
1.): 7550 Sockellafette H für 3,7 cm KwK = Skl H 3,7 cm KwK (mentioned by Natter)
2.): 3,7 cm KwK Wa Prüf Fest IV Nr. 846 (mentioned in report dated 11.01.1945)
3.): Zeichnung H-SKB 93 382 (mentioned in report dated 06.02.1945)
Four installation sites are known:
Festung Pressburg: 100 3,7 cm KwK were issued in February 1945. 83 of them arrived, 76 were installed in home-made Sockellalfetten.
Festung Dresden: 14 3,7 cm KwK were issued in April 1945 (maybe some of the remaining 17 guns for Pressburg?). The 3,7 cm guns in Dresden were most likely never installed. A number (or all?) of them were buried in the ground near Dresden and were recovered in the 1980es.
Festung Swinemünde: A number of 3,7 cm KwK were delivered in April 1945. Probably never installed.
Festung Thorn: Photo. No further information.

Hello forttravel
Here is the picture of the page in the report from 06.02.1945. Unfortunately I do not know the drawing H-SKB 93 382 mentioned in the text.
The gun on your photo is a 7,5 cm K 51 L/24 in Sockellafette Ic, recovered 2009 in Dresden. There is an interesting chapter about the recovery of this gun in the book “Militärarchäologie des Zweiten Weltkrieges” by Wolfgang Fleischer a. o.
