Hi,
Can a member please try to translate the words on the attached piece of cloth. The cloth appears to be a small yellow cloth bag tied at the top, the bottom has been burnt. Many thanks in advance. Freckles.

十銭臨時貨幣 : 10-sen temporary currencyFreckles wrote:Hi,

百圓 : 100 yen
It might be a bundle of wartime coins.
10-sen is one tenth of a yen, so 1000 coins would be bundled.
About wartime 10-sen, see below.

Re: Translation Requests
Hi Acala and Akira,
This makes perfect sense because along with the cloth bag is a glass jar with a quantity (115) of 1, 5 and 10 sen coins. The bag appears identical to the one shown in Akira's post. Terrific job. What a fantastic forum.
Many thanks. Freckles.

Yes, the 島 is pronouced as "Dao".Wellgunde wrote:Hiroshima 広島 = wide island. The city was originally founded on an island in the Ota River delta. 島 by itself is also the noun for river in both Cantonese and Mandarin language(pronounced dao?). Hope this helps. And I agree, it's a minefield out there.
