When it comes to a famous photography taken in Poteau, Belgium 1944, I can get to you some proves that might be Herbert Maeger a belgian soldier who was volunteering for the Waffen-SS.
He wrote a book: Lost Honour, Betrayed Loyalty: The Memoir of a Waffen-SS Soldier.

You can also watch a short video clip about it.

Apart from the fact that Maeger was hospitalised at that time and did not participate in the Ardennes Offensive?

Earlier in this same topic...

I heard somewhere, Herbert Maeger confirmed but I could be wrong.

But take a look closely and more precisely.
They have the same outline of nose and eyes with smile.
Especially the wrinkles on the upper most part of nose.

He did not confirm that in anyway. I repeat: during the end of 1943 he got wounded and after he served in a medical unit. He was not an MG-gunner in December 1944. And that's from personal correspondence my friend "Jochen S" had with Maeger.

Ok. I understand. but you can notice a much of similarities in their appearance ;)
So is there no any records in National Archives as for the names of soldiers who participated in Hansen group in that period?

There's no such document available in the known archives (NARA, BA-MA, Prague). BTW, if you go back in this topic to 2013 you'll see where the Maeger story came from: somebody saw his in a documentary, noticed the similarity and the story was born. Same with the "Elimar Schneider" story about Poteau, which is incorrect (despite claims from Scheider himself that it is him) and the "Priess" identification which is also incorrect (and my mistake, though originating from Merscher).

Thanks for reply and clarify things. :D
What about Ernst Kalt and Berthold Nasse? Is it incorrect identification as well?

These are names made up by Dragon for their 1/6 dolls. Kalt is German for cold and Nasse means wet

Ok.
Are you familiar with this?
https://germansoldiersduringworldwar2.w ... tuary.html

This website tell us, Ardennes soldier was Heinrich Severloh who apparently died in 1945.
I don't know if they mean about ... https://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heinrich_Severloh
The name is the same but only the diffrence is in birth and death dates.

I don't know who made that website but it's complete made-up nonsense. Search tis forum for "Severloh" and you'll find plenty of info about the guy from the wiki article who was 19 years old in 1944, wasn't in the SS and died in 2006. The obituary on that website is fictional.

This has come up on the Forum before. His name is Hans Tragarsky. You can search the AHF for the old threads giving his story.
BTW, the pistol he is holding is a FN Hi-Power, no doubt furnished when the Germans overran Belgium and put the FN plant at
Herstal to work making guns for them. Of course the Belgian workers sabotaged the guns every chance they got. When I go to
a gun show or see one advertised on one of the big gun sale websites I have to laugh- a "Nazi marked FN" ia supposedly an
item of value- I think not.

Best,
Bill

There is absolutely no conclusive evidence that it is Tragarsky. In 2012 "hegu69" dropped that name on page 3 of this very topic - with the claim that he knew him personally - but when challenged to provide some basic evidence he never replied again.

By the way, Do you know what 'Winter Fritz" wears is?

Image

The picture shows Browning HP, the soldier on the right was transferred from the Luftwaffe unit to the SS division. Due to shortcomings of his equipment, his uniform (M42 helmet with Luftwaffe decal) (Fliegerbluse flight jacket (?) With Zeltbahn pimp) more reminiscent of typical for field divisions than for SS.

Is 'Winter Fritz" dressed in US poncho?
Behind the bosom has a knife.

Visible American Lucky Strike Cigarettes.
