129. Infanterie-Division June 1944.
I am studying the history of the defeat of the Wehrmacht troops near Bobruisk in June 1944. I recently found reports on the encirclement and destruction of the retreating parts of the Wehrmacht in June 1944.
In the archives of the Red Army there are reports (reports) that on June 28, 1944, about 2,000 German soldiers and officers were surrounded and destroyed.
This happened in the area of the farms of Buynev and Kozel. This place is located 70 km south-west of Bobruisk. It follows from reports that the remnants of the retreating German units were destroyed in the area. namely:
1.183. Wach-Regiment (Sicherheits-Regiment) - bis zu 350 Soldaten.
2.122. Infanterie-Bataillon - bis zu 200 Soldaten.
3.205. Reserve-Bataillon - bis zu 600 Soldaten.
4.427. Infanterie-Regiment 428 - bis zu 1200 Soldaten.
5.104. Artillerie-Regiment - bis zu 1200 Soldaten.
From the reports, I found out that this is the 427th and 428th Grenadier regiments. These regiments fought in the 129th Infantry Division. And 104. The artillery regiment was part of the 102nd Infantry Division (this division was to the right of 129. ID).
The report of the Red Army says that among the dead 1 colonel, 1 lieutenant colonel and two major.
Commander of the Grenadier-Regiment 428, Oberst Dr. Werner Mattis.
The commander of the Grenadier-Regiment 427 was a Oberstleutnant Willi Wesche. In the Internet it is written that Willi Wesche died near Bobruisk on June 27, 1944. Although it is possible that he died precisely in this battle on June 28, 1944.
Perhaps there is somewhere memories of soldiers from this division?

I found nothing by your link. The battle log for June 1944 129. ID I saw on another forum. There was nothing interesting about the events of 28.06.1944 I did not find. But that's what I found on the site of that battle - SA-Sportabzeichen in Bronze № 110 660 . How to know who he belonged to?Larry D. wrote:Go to this link. m_d,
It sounds like you have already done a lot of research on this subject. I think the German military records are your only hope of finding some additional details of the fighting at Buynev-Kozel. These records are at the Bundesarchiv-Militärarchiv (BA-MA) in Freiburg im Breisgau. But it could be that the records detailing this battle were destroyed in the fighting and no longer exist. That happened to a lot of the divisional records during the retreat from Belorussia (Belarus) in summer 1944.

I don't know if this will help, but I have attached the relevant pages of the 24 Jul 1944 Verlustmeldung of AOK 2 which lists officers killed/wounded/missing from 129. Infanterie-Division from 23 Jun 1944 to 17 Jul 1944, including Willi Wesche, who is listed as an Oberst.

Thank. Perhaps you still have any information on 129,35,292 ID for this period?
