Apologies, I posted this in the wrong section.

The original post is here: 2. Infanterie-Division (mot). or 29. Infanterie-Division (mot) / XIV. Armeekorps (mot). May 24 1940

This is my question:
From this map, sourced from the Lexikon der Wermacht website (http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/inh ... hnis1.htm0, specifically via the page http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/Gli ... VKorps.htm:

Image

I have, tentatively, determined that it would have been the 2. Infanterie-Division (mot). or 29. Infanterie-Division (mot). of the XIV. Armeekorps (mot). which would have been involved in the actions against the Queen's Bays and 4th Border Regiment on May 24, 1940, intended to hold and secure the Bridges at Dreuil, Ailly and Picquigny.

Would anyone here have any information on the German units involved?

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Again apologies.

Had a bit of spare time today to look through the various divisional and corps KTBs.

IR.25 held the St.Valery and Abbeville bridgeheads as far as Pont Remy.
IR.5 held the Amiens bridgehead and the line of the Somme to the east as far as Corbie.
MGBtl.3 held the line of the Somme between the two.

Each of the above were supported by various elements of Pi.32 & 41, AR.2, AA.2, Pz.Jag.2 etc.

Apologies for not responding sooner, I appreciate the work you have carried out to assist.

Can you tell me please what the 'KTBs' are, to which your refer? Are they the equivalent of the British War Diaries?

I have also been looking at some sources - mine were secondary, specifically Robert Forczyk's Case Red: The Collapse of France, Osprey, 2017, on page 243 he writes:
The Abbeville bridgehead, which was 8km deep and 12-14km wide, was held by the I. and II./Infanterie-Regiment 25 (mot.), reinforced with the 2. Batterie of I./Flak-Regiment 64 (mixed) with four 8.8cm Flak guns. The bridgehead across the Somme Canal at St Valery was held by the III./Infanterie-Regiment 25 (mot.). Bader weighted his defence towards Amiens, which was held by the three battalions of Infanterie-Regiment 5 (mot.) and Mascinengewehr-Batallion (machine-gun battalion 3).

Yes exactly that.

KTB = Kriegstagebuch = literally War Day Book.

Nowadays, like the Empire WDs, it's a generic term that covers not just the diary of events but all the unit or formation documents saved in archives.

Regarding this particular issue, I've tracked down documents at the Imperial War Museum (IWM) in London/Duxford, The German Military Archives (BAMA) in Freiburg and the Russian Military Archives (TsAMO) near Moscow.
