Greetings! Wanted to ask Finnish people (or others with knowledge on the field) if there are specific-peculiar events of both Winter War and Continuation War involving Finnish air-to-ship attacks.
This involving both:
1) possible Finnish planes crashed, shot down or damaged by Soviet NAVAL Anti-aircraft fire.
2) combat fighting between planes over convoys (Hanko evacuation in 1941?)
3) Soviet ships sunk or damaged by Finnish air-attack.

Lentolaivue 30's June-November 1941 claims on damaged or sunken Soviet ships while flying Fokker DXXI from Hyvinkää, Malmi, Utti (3 September onwards) and Suulajärvi (October onwards) airports. Sourced from Lentolaivue 30's 1941, 2./Lentolaivue 30's 1941 and Finnish Air Force HQ war diaries.

5 August 1941. 5.46 p.m. Two Fokkers attacked an "ARK-3" flying boat and an unknown Soviet warship c. 5 km east of Mohni lighthouse. While the other Fokker concentrated fire on the flying boat, the other Fokker strafed men near the ship's aft cannon. The pilot claimed five men being hit by the machine gun fire. The ship continued towards the lighthouse while the flying boat was last seen having cought fire.

9 September 1941. 8.20 - 10.30 a.m. Six Fokkers attacked a Soviet transport ship at the intersection of grids 35a and 35b. The ship stopped after the first bursts, started smoking and even some small explosions were observed on board by the pilots.

20 October 1941. 7.15 - 9.20 a.m. Two Fokkers strafed two unknown Soviet ships south of Lavansaari and Someri islands.

29 October 1941. 9.15 - 10.30 a.m. Two Fokkers attacked a Soviet guard ship and a transport ship south-west of Seivästö lighthouse and c. 15 km N of the southern coast of the Gulf of Finland. The tranport ship caught fire and the guard ship started smoking. After refueling, the two Fokkers again attacked the ships and caused the guard ship to caught fire at c. 11.05 - 11.50 a.m. Apparently the tranport ship was sunk after the second attack and before c. 1.35 - 2.25 p.m when the third Finnish patrol flight observed it.

29 October 1941. 12.30 a.m - 1.20 p.m. Six Fokkers attacked a Soviet MTB which exploded and sank near Harjavalta/Gora-Valday.

1 November 1941. 7.25 - 8.10 a.m. Six Fokkers fired upon a Soviet tug boat and 2 guard ship c. 10 km south of Koivisto. The tug boat caught fire and the guardship were rendered immobile. After refuelling, two Fokkers attacked the ships between 8.20 and 9.05 a.m. The tug boat was fully consumed by fire.

1 November 1941. 9.25 - 10.15 a.m. Six Fokkers attacked three Soviet MTB c. 5 km east of Seiskari island. All three caught fire and two exploded after a while. The third MTB exploded and sunk during the second Finnish patrol flight at 11.10 a.m. One Soviet destroyer and two gunboats were observed at the site where the three ships sunk. The Fokkers strafed the two gunboats and at least 6 men were KIA.

4 November 1941. 8.55 - 10.55 a.m. Two Fokkers engaged a Soviet gunboat c. 3 km north of Harjavalta/Gora-Valday. The ship caught fire. During a second patrol flight between 10.55 and 11.55 a.m, the ship was attacked again.

11 November 1941. 10.45 a.m. Four Fokkers strafed a Soviet MTB and guard ship c. 3 km north-west of Lavansaari island. MTB caught fire and some men were KIA at the guard ship. During return flight, three explosions were observed on the MTB. During a second patrol flight at 11.45 a.m., the guard ship was observed on fire at Lavansaari harbour. Apparently the MTB had sunk between the flights.

11 November 1941. 12.40 a.m. Two Fokkers attacked a Soviet guard ship c. 2 km east of Seiskari island. Some men were KIA at the deck. During a second patrol flight between 2.15 and 3.15 p.m, the ship was observed 500 metres south of Seiskari lighthouse. The ship was strafed again.

Gentlemen,

This is the first time that I heard about Finnish planes attacking Soviet surface ships on the water. The Finnish Fokkers really had to used a lot of machine gun bullets in order to sink a Soviet ship.

There are some more detail about this Blenheim loss?

I found an interesting fight occurred during Winter War in Ladoga Lake:

29 January 1940

6 Fokker C.X attacked with dive bombing attack Soviet anchored ships at Saunasaari in two separate waves.
First wave:
First plane missed.
Second plane hit, caught fire and broke into pieces by combined fire from gunboats "Oranienbaum", "Razvedchik" and "Dozorni"
Third plane damaged minesweeper n°34

Second wave scattered due AA fire:
First plane dropped the bombs successfully on minesweepers: n°32 sunk
Second plane damaged by fire, hit at undercarriage and lost the skies.
Third plane machine-gunned a AA battery.

Apart the above mentioned losses, also "Razvedchik" suffered splinter damages. Soviets suffered 2 KIA.
Soviets claimed 2 planes down: it was only one (FK-111) from the first wave, both airmen killed.
Damaged plane on second wave was FK-89, pilot made a successful belly-landing at airbase.

While flying in wedge formation with BL-158 from NW to SE at 1200 metres, BL-132 was shot down by ship-based 20 or 40 mm anti-aircraft fire. Crew was KIA: Lt. Risto Kuusava (pilot), Lt. Herbert Stünkel (bombardier) and Sgt. Risto Räty (gunner).

Räty had previously claimed a I-16 (155 IAP, A. N. Vasiljev) near Petroskoi/Petrozavodsk while flying on BL-137 on 1 July 1941.

From III/RTR 12's diary, based in and around Haapasaari Island:
"29 June 1942. 10.35 p.m. Narvi and Someri (Islands) observed several guard ships between Seiskari and Peninsaari (Islands) being bombed by two of our twin-engine planes. The other plane was hit by anti-aircraft fire from the guard ships and exploded mid-air. The plane was destroyed at grid 143 C 46".
29.6.1942. 22.35. Havaitsi Narvi ja Someri Seiskarin ja Peninsaaren välillä useimpia VMV veneitä, joita kaksi omaa 2 moottorista konetta kävi pommittamassa. VMV veneiden it. tulen vaikutuksesta toinen pommikoneista sai osuman ja räjähti ilmassa. Kone tuhoutui ruudussa 143 C 46.

Mission report by Lentolaivue 10. The second page hasn't been digitised, but can be mostly deciphered due to the transparent first page. I believe there is also fairly detailed description of the mission on Geust's book Red Stars 7.

Thanks for the detailed replies! Yeah, i read translation of winter war clash, but it appears it has already been detailed around.

When I have time, I will re-check a bit for the activities of MO-4 boats in June-July 1942, by possibilies and weapon size (20-40mm similar to the standard 45mm) quite clearly we are speaking of that widespread type.

At the Finnish report, Mangrove posted
Mission report by Lentolaivue 10
the things went slightly different way:

First plane: the row of bombs across the ship targetted, so 100kg bombs probably direct hits.
2nd plane: shot down
3rd plane: landing gear shot off. Electric 100kg bomb drop system damaged, only the 12,5kg ones could be released. Probable hits.
4th plane: because of the events about the previous incidents, the plane went to inverted dive and couldn't release the bombs.
5th plane: the bombs probably hit very well, but because of the fire and smoke, precise observations were difficult to make.
6th plane: row of bombs across the another big ship. Probable direct hits.

No mention of two differt waves, nor strafing.

According to
http://www.airwar.ru/history/locwar/fin ... pikir.html
http://iv70.narod.ru/IV2/LadBoi.html
There was also a land based 76mm(?) 90th Battery that took part to the harbour defence.

27 June 1942. 4.35 - 5.45 a.m. Two Bristol Blenheims bombed two Soviet guard ships north of Peninsaari Island. Hits in the immediate vicinity of the ships.
According sovnavyww2 site list, MO-201 (ex-MO-108, ex-PK-201) sunk on that day at Penisari (but no other MO-4 lost at Someri that day, but maybe was some other boaat).

In addition to the above mentioned (by igor) loss of MO-109 (ex PK-206, ex. MO-206) of 29 October 1941, I have singled out other only other three MO-4 fully described as sunk by Air attack in the whole Baltic:

MO-305 (ex-MO-508) on 28 September 1941 at Someri.

MO-404 (ex-MO-206, ex-MO-210, ex-PK-220) on 13 May 1944 at Lavensaari.

Also another MO-201 (ex-ZK-8, ex-MO-110, ex-PK-210) described as sunk by German air raid on 15 August 1942 at Seskar

((This is only a general check of the MO-4 type boats alone, also there could be some missing ones)).

Ok, made a check for older MO-type boats. Two MO-2 type were also lost in Baltic:

MO-177 (ex-MO-704, ex-PK-177) sunk at Lavensaari on 22 June 1943

(( MO-405 (ex-PK-216) sunk at Saaremaa, clearly unlikely a Finnish victory? on 16 September 1941))

3) Soviet ships sunk or damaged by Finnish air-attack.
forum.axishistory.com - Soviet Naval Battles (help with info):
The Finnish watch stations along the Lake Onega spotted two Soviet gunboats and a large tugboat c. 10 kilometers south-west of Vasilisin Island on 1 June 1943. Three Fokker C.X light bombers were dispatched to bomb the boats. The observation stations saw the sinking of "a tugboat" (actually gunboat Nr. 12 / KALYAEV) a minute after the attack. One other ship received a minor hit on the aft and another on the bow. Later that day a Finnish reconnaissance flight observed a damaged gunboat taking on water near the mouth of the Vodla River.
