Captured German military records online: "germandocsinrussia.org"
Re: Captured German military records online: "germandocsinrussia.org"
Incredible... I also see they are careful not to mention the roll number, not even the number of pages... It may work at times.

Re: Captured German military records online: "germandocsinrussia.org"
Thanks for the info, but how do you know? Is there a "News" section in the site? I love the site, but I find it impossible to find out about updates (other than keeping an Excel list of available docs and checking in every couple of months to see if there are new ones).Mori wrote:By the way, new series were published on their web site yesterday.
Additionally, which section were the new docs in?

No other way than regular check of the website... The main series are on the index page (http://wwii.germandocsinrussia.org/ru/nodes/1-fond-500), easy to track. More troublesome is spotting additional items within a given series, when they substitute placeholders for actual files...
Re: Captured German military records online: "germandocsinrussia.org"
it seems some of the entries have been removed from the site...

Yes, some documents were deleted, I don't find the folder 12450 (OKW documents), 12451 (OKH, and a lot of KStN) and 12454 (AG Center), does anybody know anything about it?

Today the OKH folder, 12451, is again present, I don't find variation in its composition, but I did not have a situation only for the items regarding the matters I am interested it. I found that the folder 12480 is different from the one I looked at in the first half of 2017: in particular is now present an item (number 46) that was not available an year ago, at least with the documents that contains now.
Re: Captured German military records online: "germandocsinrussia.org"
There are a few additional folders in each series. They post it as they scan it, and it's not possible to get a warning when that happens.
The major change with 12451 is it now has the ugly watermark...

Be so kind and explain on which grounds they claim a copyright on those scans!
Scanning foreign files does NOT give you any right to claim a copyright on them nor do you hold such due to the scanning.
Re: Captured German military records online: "germandocsinrussia.org"
Where can I download record group 12493 of the captured documents collection?
Re: Captured German military records online: "germandocsinrussia.org"
Good, good.
Other than 4 small files that interest me, I've not got the 14,000 pages making up the SS files held by TsAMO. So I'm not offering them free or for cash. But I do know 3 (now 4 including you) people/places where to find them. Each source comes with it's own time and cost structure.
Is jabowery looking for a specific file or is he hoping to do a mass grab of all the SS files? If it's the latter, then you'll be doing him a massive favour. I mean, how long did it take you to download, rename and sort all those pages? I hope he understands the effort and appreciates it.

Wait a minute here guys.
Do I understand it correctly that the Tsamo folder 12493 (whatever it contains) is already online? Where? Where can I find it? Shouldn't that be on the website of germandocsinrussia? I am confused.
