I must have had some kind of memory error in my machine. Of course AAA had artillery tabs although AAA was under Air Force.

AAA soldiers could be identified by their shoulder insignias, where the swastika meant the Air Force.

That is true but this kind of insignia wasn't so common during wartime anymore, I believe. The emblem with the swastika was painted on some helmets tho. I presume that you are an AAA man, judging from your profile photo :).

Those emblems were quite rear. Here's a Lance Corporal, who'se got his shouder insignias messed up. The Lance Corporal's stripe should be at the bottom, not in the middle:

That's true. I guess the painting of the emblem was up to the owner.

105 H/41 in Vaasa on 19 August 1941. The camouflage is painted according to the instructions released on 23 June 1941. The camouflage was considered to be effective as the artillery pieces could not be spotted from an aerial photograph taken at 300 meters or higher or from the ground when observed from distance of 150 meters or further.

That is a great photograph!

Such a pity we don't have any original colour pictures such as this one.

The Bofors AA gun picture I posted in the previous page is the best and pretty much the only example of authentic photographs that I have seen of the tri-color camo scheme.

War photographer Paavo Poutilainen shot 10 minutes worth of colour 16 mm film in East Karelia during the summer of 1942. The short film was called "Värivälähdyksiä Äänisen rannoilta". This was later published in the DVD collection "Jatkosodan katsaukset II: kamerat asemissa" in 2009.

In the beginning of the film footage shot by Poutilainen, there is a 10 second long clip of two T-26 tanks rolling around the streets of Äänislinna. Later there is also a very brief shot of a staff car in three-colour camouflage.

@Mangrove: Thank you for the link! I now realise this color film is included in the Jatkosodan katsaukset II (Continuation War News Reels II) DVD

I had watched the particular film, and noticed the T-26s briefly passing the camera, they seem to be in olive green camo. I had missed the car in the lower picture.

So anyone wanting to add this to their collection can get it eg. from here: http://cdon.fi/elokuvat/jatkosodan_kats ... )-11315936.

I am not affiliated with CDON, and I am sure other shops carry it as well

Dear fellows,
Please note that colors on old movies are distorted a bit. Using the T26's image as an example I did small colors' correction, and atached image shows how it shall be looking like. I still think there is too much blue overall.

Nice work. I agree that the film has a strong bluish hue.

YLE.fi - Kohta voit nähdä inttiaikasi netistä – Puolustusvoimat avaa koko arkistonsa ja tuo liki 70 000 valokuvaa vapaasti kaikkien nähtäville

The Finnish Defence Forces will digitise the remainder of its photographic archives, spanning from the 1910s to the the modern day. The first 70 000 photographs will be made available for public during the end of the year or beginning of 2019.

Great! Is it planned to create a new site for this or will it be an addition to SA-kuva?

Based on the wording of the article, it will be a different site from SA-kuva.

War Museum has been improving image information texts, now e.g. all photos regarding Hitler's visit should be easier to find.

@Mangrove: the link to the picture you posted on the official tri-color camo paint scheme (on a cannon) seems to have gone broke. Do you think you still have the picture somewhere for reposting it?
