Authentic SS dagger?

#1

Post by senord » 05 Sep 2018, 22:34

Hello there,

Since I recently started working and I'm very interested in WW2, I figured I'd give myself something nice.

I was offered the following dagger for € 2.400. Since I'm very new to this and I heard SS daggers are prone to being fake, I figured I'd ask you guys for advice. Could you guys have a look at the images and tell me if it's real or fake (and perhaps what it'd be worth)? Thank you very much in advance!

Dagger itself looks real, but only in fairly good condition.... Can't read the RZM markings from the pictures, not a good thing. Price seems very high for an RZM type in this condition. Vertical hanger needs a closer look also.

If the RZM /SS marking is not intact, I'd wait for a better one.

Only Lauterjung & Sohn ( SS RZM code 1052 ) marks the blade in this way.
They added 1938 /1939 Date and "SS" runes.
In that state, € 2.400 it's not a bargain..

I asked for a close up and then you can see the markings.

Thanks for the help everyone. I decided to buy it. Once I receive it, I'll make sure to check its authenticity according to the SS dagger guide. :)
