Reichskanzlei Thread
Re: Reichskanzlei Thread
Thanks, Greg! I could've looked at that photo a dozen times and still missed the traffic lights. I was wondering if they may have been a temporary arrangement, i.e. packed up and put away except for official visits. Thanks again!

Re: Reichskanzlei Thread
I have spent a few hours digging through a Russian language image forum that posts links to image boards (very hard to navigate through), I think it was linked on this thread somewhere earlier, but I have come up with some real gems! Most of the photos I am sharing in this post are from the perspective of a regular person walking near the Chancellery in its prime; a very interesting and a not often seen perspective of the building.
This one, if you look very closely (click on it for higher res), shows people entering one of the public air-raid shelter pop-up entrances in front of the mittelbau portion of the building. Perhaps they are doing a drill, or maybe just a tour? Who knows... These two are my favourite:

Thanks Mister S!
I like the photo taken from Potsdamer Platz down the Hermann Göring Str.
On the left we have Columbushaus with F. W. Woolworth Co. on the ground level.

Re: Reichskanzlei Thread
Great photos, Mister S. I may have said this before but Voss-Strasse looks to be so much wider than it does today.

Wonderful photos! Almost like being there, about 77 years ago!! Many thanks!

Re: Reichskanzlei Thread
Yeah, not entirely sure what is going on. Perhaps it is a civilian-led group? It seems like they wanted to be very transparent about their public shelter under Hitler's office complex, as it was probably good for propaganda. Here is one of the only other photos I have seen where the bunker doors are open before the Battle of Berlin:
Here is the most famous photo of the doors open, one of my personal favorite photos of the war itself, of General Weidling exiting the bunker complex to the Russians outside. It was probably staged, however.
Re: Reichskanzlei Thread
Dear colleagues! I'm glad that my modest "Russian collection" was useful to someone. Soon, all the images will be posted on the service "Flickr".
Sincerely.

Re: Reichskanzlei Thread
Here are some images of snow around the Chancellery complex, which I have found to be quite rare, surprisingly. They must have swept it away frequently or only taken photos in the warm seasons, probably the latter. All are dated "1940".

It has a collection of excellent pencil drawings like the one below but I can't find it in this thread despite searching "Kanzlei pencil drawings", "New Reich Chancellery book" and variations thereupon. Thanks in advance!

That's the one. I had started going through all the pages on this thread again but had only got up to page 20. Thanks Max!

Traudl Junge was right ...
Just trawling through some earlier posts and this photo below shows that part of the Bunker roof did protrude. The thread is here:

Re: Traudl Junge was right ...
I assume that is taken from the perspective of behind the Vorbunker, looking towards the west. It is perhaps showing the Vorbunker, which had concrete added to it (right up to the carpet level of the 1936 extension's ballroom) before the Battle of Berlin, as I understand. Although it may be showing the Fuhrerbunker, because perhaps they (Soviets) dug down to the Fuhrerbunker roof (or bomb craters revealed it during the final days of the war), which was close to the surface to my understanding, in their attempt to demolish it in the 50s, and that is what is indeed showing. Here are some of the images I have showing this concrete roof you speak of, decide for yourself:Mannheim wrote: ↑12 Sep 2018, 05:00Just trawling through some earlier posts and this photo below shows that part of the Bunker roof did protrude. This one seems to suggest that the concrete Fuhrerbunker "roof" may have protruded, at least after the war during cleanup/demolition:
One of the final images of the Fuhrerbunker, probably from the late 50s. The color and quality of this image makes me feel as if I am there!
Re: Reichskanzlei Thread
Wow! Great photos, Mister S. I had only ever seen the second one before.
