Could you post the full picture?
Hello, balkanguy44

It's the well known imam group photo taken at the Glienicke Bridge between Potsdam and Berlin.
See Bernwald, "Muslime in der Waffen-SS", p. 51, or Lepre, "Himmler's Bosnian Division", p. 72.

What about this handschar soldier? Name?
Hello, Huska

We generally advise against requests for identification of common soldiers and NCOs since there were too many of them and most of them remain unknown. The chances of them being identified are low and, in most cases, it would only be an unnecessary waste of forum space and members' time. I'm sure you'll understand.

Cheers,
Ivan

Hello, Huska

I'm sorry, but I must correct you again: Photobucket is not a source, the same as Facebook, YouTube etc. It's like writing a "library". One more time: you should be specific. A friendly advice: try searching for more solid/reliable sources than those you're currently browsing.

The photo you asked about also appears in Bernwald's book. This was his caption:

Hello,

The translation of the caption for all non-German speakers:” I have met three former soldiers, all members of Pionier-Battalion 13, in Sarajevo. They (the three soldiers) took part in the Villefranche Revolt (France, 1943) and survived. From left to right: Pita Asim, Šemso Alihodžic, Pita Šuljo and the author (Zvonimir Bernwald).”

I’m sorry for grammatical errors but English is my third language and it’s difficult for me to translate from German into English.
Cheers,

Hello, Huska

“*When quoting from a book or site, please provide info on the source (and a link if it is a website)“ - AHF Rule

I think nobody will get angry if you can’t name the source (direct link, or the name of the webpage etc) one or two times, but keep in mind that you have to provide a concrete info on the source.

Note that "mitgemacht" is a tricky word. I'm sure that he meant that they witnessed or took part in putting down the mutiny and didn't participate in the revolt itself (they weren't mutineers).

Yes, but it depends on the site. Racist/extremist sites are not allowed.

Hello,

A quite well known picture of the Handschar, but who is the officer first from left?
Caption: Soldiers of the Handschar Division (most likely Pioneer-Battalion 13) in May 1944.

Thanks for sharing the Cossack picture. Im intrigued.
Im aware of cossacks taking part in the attack on Drvar in the summer of '44 but that happened in northwestern Bosnia. Cossacks had a presence there, but not in northeastern Bosnia (at least not from what I've read). The division may have crossed paths with cossacks on the Drava river (Margarethestellung) near Pitomaca in the latter months of the year. It might also explain the Wehrmacht uniforms since many units converged on that position to stem the Russians. The only thing off about the Handschar private is his M42 uniform.

Hello, Mujo

Note that there is only one "Handschar" guy, so maybe the Cossacks simply took an exotic picture with him while he was visiting his family in their area, or something like that. It's most likely not a meeting of units, but an encounter of a couple of guys.

Hello, balkanguy44

The man on the far left is an NCO (not an officer).

Cheers,
Ivan

Hello, Mujo

Yes, it’s possible. However, I have never read that Cossacks and Handschar crossed paths.

Ivan, your explanation seems to be logical.

I guess you don’t know the name of the NCO?

No, sorry. If it helps, his rank is SS-Hauptscharführer and he's German (as the barely visible Sigrunen below his brest pocket indicate).

This is also him:
