Third Reich Feildpost numbered Telephone
Hello, I was hoping someone could identify the location of use of this telephone ,It appears the 5 digit number is 66435 . There is also a hand marked H-1 on bottom edge with roman numeral 3. Thanks for looking and any help.
Re: Third Reich Feildpost numbered Telephone
Looks like US or Canadian made Model 302. Can't see a manufacturer, is it Western or Northern Electric?
I don't think label is genuine. Year of production can be worked out by looking at parts inside, could well be post-WWII...
Re: Third Reich Feildpost numbered Telephone
The label on the receiver states "Bell System" and there´s the text "operator" in the last bottom hole between the number zero and the letter Z. I wonder, did they sell their telephones in Europe?
And neither do I think that the phone was used in the Wehrmacht.

The Phone handset states Bell system -Manufactured by western electric company F-1 . I am quite certain that it is original and the center label has been installed by an official , I removed the center cap and there is another label inside I will post pics this evening after work . Thanks for info and comments

Hello
As the label in the circle / middle of the phone indicates Dienststelle Feldpostnummer 66435, it is this one.

Re: Third Reich Feildpost numbered Telephone
Thanks , so is there a market for this , any value to collectors.
Re: Third Reich Feildpost numbered Telephone
Sorry to bother you, Kurt, but how does it indicate this number? All I see are a couple of spots of whom only the middle one might be the letter "4". The rest can be anything,IMHO At least on the photos I see on my screen.
And why is the right half of the stamp text so blurry? In contrary to "Dienststelle Feld".
Cheers

Hello
At history1 - In the original post the poster said:
"Hello, I was hoping someone could identify the location of use of this telephone ,It appears the 5 digit number is 66435 . There is also a hand marked H-1 on bottom edge with roman numeral 3. Thanks for looking and any help."
So the fact that he is having the original to look at it might be a bit clearer than the photo
BUT - when that is said, please note that I am NOT taking a stand on the item are genuine or a fake.

Re: Third Reich Feildpost numbered Telephone
Its blurry because of the fact that the plastic is aged and discolored because it was put in there in the 30s . Not much to explain. Thanks to nice fellow with common sense

It was obviously stamped and you can see heavier build up on one edge.

Re: Third Reich Feildpost numbered Telephone
Also check out the hole in the handset .thats a pretty tough plastic and one pissed off S.O.B.
Re: Numbered WESTERN ELECTRIC 300-series Telephone
Obviously you don´t mean me with the latter. Did you even read the links I posted in comment #3? Most likely not, otherwise you would have recognised in the meantime that there are NO ROMAN digits used. My gut instinct says I don´t need to waste my time with you further. Have fun finding an idiot who accepts your spots of ink as FPN 66435.hertzyinmn wrote: ↑10 Nov 2018, 00:26Its blurry because of the fact that the plastic is aged and discolored because it was put in there in the 30s . BTW, common sense says you don´t need to upload the same photo multiple times. It´s not only common sense but also a violation of the forum rules to upload them five times as you did in your last post.

Hello
Please note my last remark in my former post
I am merely responding to the posters claim about the feldpostnummer - if it is a feldpostnummer?

Re: Third Reich Feildpost numbered Telephone
Feldpostnummer was an address replacement for letters/postcards/packages deliveries.
It had nothing to do with providing telephone services.
That Bell model 302 needed public telephone exchange to work, usually not available in the field.

Re: Third Reich Feildpost numbered Telephone
There is very little reason to believe this Bell system phone has anything to do with WW 2 German military or civilian usage..... The teleport center would have no meaning on the phone and everything as far as markings on the phone itself indicate US usage only.....
You can believe whatever you want but I see no collector value or interest what so ever.....based on 60 years of collecting and dealer experience. Just a old phone made to fool the willing....
