Brodnica, wyrok smierci dla zbira i polakozerce

Brodnica, henchman and persecutor of Poles sentenced to death

A special tribunal in Torun, acting in Brodnica, tried a Nazi henchman Wilhelm Krause, who dwelt on the village of Karbowa, in the Brodnica district. Wilhelm Krause, after the German invasion of Poland, joined SS and committed heinous crimes against the local population, arrested innocent people and handed them over to German gendarmerie. Wilhelm was sentenced to death. The local inhabitants, present at the trial, were satisfied with the penalty meted out to Wilhelm.

On December 20, the regional court in Kalisz tried Henryk Wenke, a Volksdeutsche from the Kozminek region for his treason against the Polish nation, being a SA member as well as his assistance in compulsory resettlement and sending to concentration camps of Poles and acts of rape. Henryk Wenke was sentenced to life in prison. On the same day, Ryszard Reiman was tried and sentenced to one year in prison for signing the Volksdeutsche list.
1. Volksdeutscher
2. "dokonanie licznich gwałtów" translates as "executed multiple acts of violence",
3. Deutsche Volksliste

One need to keep in mind that Polish ethnic Germans were convicted as Poles. That allowed a much higher punishment of the culprits.

hi

thanks for your remarks.
you are right about point 1. volksdeutsche is plural
as for point 2 it is not clear whether "liczne gwalty" means acts of violence or acts of rape. please explain to me why you opt for your version
as for point 3 - the volksdeutsche list is fine (this term is used by Anne Applebaum in her iron curtain)

regards

Hi knokkelmann1,
1. "Volksdeutsche" isn´t only plural, it might be also used a singular depending on the case of the word in the sentence.
2. to rape someone = zgwałcić
the rape = zgwałcenie
as far as I know.
3. I don´t care for people speaking/using a gibberish of German/Polish like the journalist Applebaum you mentioned or the newspaper editors. Alone her name is a joke! Apple [English] = Apfel & baum [German] = tree. Why didn´t she keep Apfelbaum as her ancients or change it entirely into the English "appletree"?
May I suggest to use a block letter at the beginning of "Volksdeutscher" as it´s required in German? Otherwise you may use the English equivalent "German ethnic".

Pozdrawiam

Szpicel – renegat skazany na kare smierci

Snitch and renegade sentenced to death

Edward Wytyk, a renegade, had been bloodily etched in minds of countryfolk around Cracow. He signed The Deutsche Volksliste in 1943, joined German gendarmerie, and then provided the invaders with a list of persons from the villages of Skronina, Sedow, Ruda Bialaczewska, Sobien, Borowiec and Sluzno, where a merciless pacification ensued.

He is responsible for at least 100 arrests and 40 people burnt alive in the village (not specified which village) who resisted the pacification when the village was surrounded (by Germans).

During those pacifications, Wytyk would go from one house to another and point to the Gestapo those who ought to be later arrested. He was once identified by Brzezinski, a farmer who was surprised to see him and who said to Wytyk: hello, Mr. Wytyk, what are you doing here?

The Nazi henchman cursed angrily and pointed Brzezinski to gendarmes who then arrested him. The poor fellow was taken to Oswiecim where he died in a crematorium.

When speaking to other Poles, Wytyk claimed that Poland was doomed.

He was wrong as punishment was meted out to him. He was sentenced to death.

Pieciu zbrodniarzy na szubienicy

Five henchmen hanged. KRN president granted no clemency

Due to the fact the KRN president did not grant clemency to a number of prisoners, five executions ensued in different parts of Poland.

In Bialystok, Franciszek Chrapowicz was hanged for his participation in a group of robbers and terrorists and involvment in killing of Marian Szataniak. Stanislaw Klepacki was too executed for his involvment in an armed robbery which took place in the villages of Wroczyn and Kedlowo.

In Poznan, Jan Frank, a former supervisor at a German construction company, was executed for his cruel treatment of Polish and Jewish workers; he had mauled one of his workers to death.

In Torun, Teodor Danielewski, a jailer from Koronowo was hanged, for his cruel treatment of prisoners during the war.

Jan Serman, an ex-SS member and provost of Stabno in Pomerania, was executed too, because he persecuted Polish nationals as well as arrested four Poles who later died during the mass execution in Rudzki Most.

I think Jan Serman must be:

Jan Semrau
18.11.1889
death sentence 13.04.1946 in Torun
executed (date unknown to me)

I think Jan Frank must be:

Johann Franke
20.06.1899
executed 01.06.1946 in Srem

additional information:

Theodor Danielewski
25.09.1883
executed 24.06.1946 in Inowroclaw

judging by your previous posts (Anne Applebaum) you seem to be mentally unstable, to say the least. No offense.
