Meaning of U.K.?
Meaning of U.K.?
Hello,
Could someone please help to translate this german acronym?
It seems to refer to furlough in the following sentence: "Die ständige Verwendungsbereitschaft der Lehrtruppen erfordert hohe Gefechtsstärken; daher sind U.K. Anträge grundsätzlich abzulehnen, solange nicht voll ausgebildeter Ersatz bei der Truppe eingetroffen ist. Über die regelmässigen Beurlaubungen ergeht Sonderbefehl.". But I'm not sure.
Thank you for any help provided.

U.K. Umgebungskarte, A map of the immediate vicinity, or a map of one's position
u.k. or uk unabkömmlich, Indispensable, subject to an occupational deferment
Source Kriegsprache
I would say it's the second one ?

You're probably right, many thanks John!
I checked the file and it was written in capital letters though.

Re: Meaning of U.K.?
Can be only the 2nd meaning, even when it is written in capital letters in your source
@j keenan: It´s "Kriegssprache" = literally "war language"

Re: Meaning of U.K.?
In addition to history1's suggestions, I found "Umzugskosten" (moving costs) as a possibility.

Re: Meaning of U.K.?
Hi Hiltraut,
I assume you mean a possibility what "Uk" might mean.
When we translate the entire para it´s clear that it can be only "unabkömmlich/indespensable" - cases.
"The permanent readiness of the teaching staff requires high combat strengths, therefore indispensable requests need to be rejected in principle as long as not fully trained replacement troops has arrived at the unit. For the regular leave a special order will be issued"

Roman
