Re: Finnish Artillery
Quite a bit out of my field of interest, but got interested since neither Navy or Coastal Artillery books seemed to id this one. SA_pictures notes say it to be a 100 mm war booty piece. This is what I found in my reference books:
Entsiklopedija Otetsestvennoj Artillerii recognizes two versions of 100 mm palubnaja ustanovka B-24: B-24-BM and B-24-IIc. Problem here is that their barrel length is 56 x caliber. Maybe the gun in the picture has barrel cut down? Or maybe this one is of this gun family but different model? Or as likely, something totally different....Re: Finnish Artillery
I think you are right, Prts...100mm B-24 gun...with the barrel cut down...

Re: Finnish Artillery
Russian artillery literature states this one to be a Naval gun. Hence I am asking for a ship.

Re: Finnish Artillery
Also coastal artillery
Impressing!
Re: Finnish Artillery
B-24 had two versions - 100/45 for submarines and 100/56 for surface ships, but also used in coastal artillery. In Hanko were captured 5 100-mm coastal guns, but there is no information about model. See

Re: Finnish Artillery
So B-24 from Hanko war booty it is.
Re: Finnish Artillery
According to some sources there was 100 mm railway artillery battery with 3 guns in Hanko. It used the railway at Tulliniemi as its firing position.
See for example: https://www.hanko.fi/files/5082/tullini ... 9.5.14.pdf (in Finnish)

Re: Finnish Artillery
Yes.
According to Enqvist it was the Soviet 10th railway artillery battery.
All the barrels of the guns were cut down by exploding them, and the carriages of them were thoroughly broken.
If I understand correctly, the guns were never repaired. Scrapping of the parts was suggested in mid 50' and probably done so.
Finnish designation of these guns was 100/56 N.
