Re: Id. old gun
I should have made myself more clear on armament, the main battery 305 mm guns and turrets were Russian designed and built.

Well, possibly you are right, ROLAND1369. Your gun seems match with the gun of my image although it is difficult to ensure...ROLAND1369 wrote
Despite my lack of Russian language knowledge I found the article very informative. However I do not believe the mystery gun in question is not an Armstrong but a Bethlehem produced 152 mm gun. I base this non only on the barrel and recoil system match but also the peculiar construction on the left rear, see circled photos,. The presence of a casemate type small circular shield would indicate the weapon being sourced from a ship. The most likely candidate is the Battleship Retivzan which was built to an American design and armament by Cramp and sons
About the source of the guns according to Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_b ... p_Retvizan the Russian battleship Retivzan had 15.2cm M1892 L45 Canet guns....

I think this is the second photo of the same gun. This photo was taken a little later than the first one. The artillery gun is already partially dismantled.ROLAND1369 wrote: ↑01 Jan 2019, 21:22Despite my lack of Russian language knowledge I found the article very informative. Jk is right. It is a Hotchkiss 3,7 cm Revolverkanone. Installed at special fortress mount for use in German forts caponiers. This is pretty curious picture - the weapon is fixed to any provisional field position.

These are Obukhov State Plant 152 mm/45 (6") guns Pattern 1892 (Canet licence).

Both guns still exist in its original location as a war memorial.
