Re: Unit emblems identification help
Hi, can someone ID the emblem on this bus? The picture was taken during Balkanfeldzug 1941.

Re: Unit emblems identification help
Hello,
can someone help me with signs on this motorcycle? I know, that lower one is for military police, but what about the upper one and the letters „Wil“ or is it „WII“?
Thank you, Georg

Re: Unit emblems identification help
it's "WH" = "Wehrmacht Heer"

Re: Unit emblems identification help
That isn't the tactical sign for the Military Police, theirs was a stylised traffic wand not a diagonal line across the rectangle. To me the letters on the rear mudguard look more like Wil than WH.

according to the american wartime handbooks on german military symbols, diagonal line across the rectangle should be symbol for military police...
For example here: http://maps.mapywig.org/m/m_documents/E ... S_1944.pdf

As so often then the US Intelligence got it wrong. Have a look on this site and scroll down to Rear Echelon Units.

Re: Unit emblems identification help
Yes Alan, a good reference site but you should have looked at the 1941-42 symbols too.

As for the “wil” I agree with schwarzermai, it’s a muddy and weathered WH.

Re: Unit emblems identification help
Seems to be the Gothic "M" of a machine gun battalion, in this case MG-Bataillon 13.

Re: Unit emblems identification help
Anyone know which division this truck belongs to? My guess is that it's from Vienna, as the Ferris wheel looks like the one in the Prater.

Re: Unit emblems identification help
Does anyone recognize the emblem on this railway car? The unit might've been involved in the invasion or occupation of Norway.

Re: Unit emblems identification help
This looks like a tactical sign, but I have been unable to find it in the lists published on Lexikon der Wehrmacht or Niehorster. Does anyone know what it is? It's on the left front fender of a Luftwaffe vehicle.
