Re: SS-Division "Handschar" photos
Hello, DFrolov1992 and Ivan
Thank you both! I’ve just recently read Partisan documents about the crimes of the “Handschar” Division. As always very sad to read trough such documents.
But my question was that it can’t be in the Herzegovina region, or?
Cheers

No, the Birač area is north-east of Sarajevo (around Vlasenica etc). The museum archivist mistakenly wrote Herzegovina instead of Bosnia.balkanguy44 wrote: ↑26 Mar 2019, 17:13But my question was that it can’t be in the Herzegovina region, or?

Re: SS-Division "Handschar" photos
Who says there's a "Dr Akram" in the photo and who's this person supposed to be anyway?
As far as I know, the source of that unconfirmed identification is Nino viewtopic.php?f=51&t=77027&start=60#p1779300
He also misidentified Korkut as Bajraktarević there, although there's no physical resemblance between the two whatsoever.
Cheers,
Ivan

Re: SS-Division "Handschar" photos
Yes Ivan it was really weird to see that he wrote Bajraktarević instead of Korkut . I am trying to Identify those civilians in the photos,do you have any suggestions on how I can find some information about the civilians,Ivan?

Re: SS-Division "Handschar" photos
Not at the moment, sorry. But please, in the future, use sources more reliable than (mis)identifications such as those Nino's.
A note regarding the same photo: in his book, Zvonimir Bernwald misidentified one of the Hstufs in the front row on the left as Berger's adjutant Blessau (he didn't even specify which one is it). Werner Blessau is not in the photo. As I wrote to several people recently, beware of old people's identifications/memories; they are often wrong. Always try finding a period/reliable document to back-up an identification, if possible.
Cheers,
Ivan

Hello, Huska
All I can say at the moment is that the third imam, who isn't pictured in the above photo, was Đozo.
See the detail from another photo from the same occasion below:

Re: SS-Division "Handschar" photos
I've just noticed that there are photos of three/four different events listed as "Bajram celebration 1943" on that site...
If it helps, a slightly better scan from Redžić's book:

Unlike Ibrahimović, this imam was wearing glasses.
I think that it might be the same person as that imam mentioned earlier, pictured holding speech in Brčko 1944.
(Not sure; but he also wore glasses.)
