Can someone help me out. Im looking for more info on my relative Gertrude Mandel, geborene Klennert, Oberfeldführerin im DRK Berlin 1934 - 1945.

Kriegsverdienstkreuz mit Schwertern 2. Klasse
Eisernes Kreuz 1. Klasse 05/30/1945

There was no such award as an Eisernes Kreuz mit Schwertern 2.Klasse. The award was actually the Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2.Klasse mit Schwertern (KvK - War Merit Cross 2nd Class with Swords). And I would imagine that the Eisernes Kreuz 1. Klasse was actually the KvK I Klasse as only two females ever won the EK I - Hanna Reitsch and Else Grossmann.

However the date you have given for the EK/KvK 1.Klasse is postwar. Hopefully any records received will shed light on what she was or wasn't awarded.

You were right she got KVK War Merit Cross 2nd Class with Swords (no date avaiable) and the KVK 1st Class on January 30, 1945. Any further info with these details?

No further information but I wonder how many women won the KvK I.Klasse mit Schwertern? I wonder if it was a rare award for a female? Approximately the same number of EK I & KvK I.Kl mit Schwertern were awarded so could be a scarce award for a female.
