Hi Rich,
On second look at the headlamps I think your car is a State Commander or State President (cannot tell which engine) like this:

It looks similar but is not the same car. The side trim, headlamps, and fuel cap are different. It looks like a '38 Stude but I don't recognize that double line side trim. Maybe someone can help me out on that?

Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Hi Rich,
a really good question. It is a Fiat produced during the German occupation and had the standard driver’s cab of the last year of war. The German designation was Fiat 628.
Best regards
Bert

You are right Bert - good job on a relatively unknown vehicle. Your turn.

Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Hi guys, and a very ugly vehicle it was too! I always wondered if the Einheits cab was fitted to the chassis at the Torino works or added after they were shipped to Germany. Do either of you know?
Cheers,
Max

Hi Max,
You are right, a really ugly vehicle. I think that this cab was made in Italy and then fitted to the chassis at the Torino works, because it is not the typical Einheits cab on other vehicles. Here three examples.
Best regards
Bert

Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Hi Bert,
It looks like a Henschel. Similar to a Type 6 J 5 N but larger and with heavier duty wheels than the one Holger shows.

Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Hi Bert,
Thanks for the pics. You're right of course it's not a true "Einheits" Fahrerhaus, since it was designed specifically for the Cab Over Engine 628. It's the only one like it I've seen. BTW I had it as a 628 N (Diesel). Which is correct? Or were both type engines ordered?
Cheers,
Max
