German situation maps

#1

Post by Svejk » 07 Aug 2019, 13:44

Hello everyone to the forum participants.

Tell me, maybe there is another resource besides John K. FTP, where to download these maps (situational maps of OKH headquarters).

When John K. had a working site and the maps were still in the cloud storage, with high download speed, I managed to download only a few months in 1941.
FTP download speed is very low, I would like the whole collection of these cards.
Perhaps there is still a resource or a torrent?

Best Regards, Svejk

AFAIK, there is no better than the FTP site. It is not that slow: after 12-24h, you will get the months you're looking for.

The whole lot is bulky and I don't think a torrent would be more convenient. Lage Ost maps only are ca. 300 Gb.

Mori, Thanks for the answer! my speed on FTP 50-100kb/s - it will be downloaded less than a year, about 300 days. xD
And the speed of my network 10Mb/s that exceeds FTP speed by 100 times and from other cloudy storage downloading will be very easy.
I just wanted to learn that there can be these maps is on other resources, with a good speed of loading.

PS
If skillfully to edit these maps, then file size it is possible to reduce 300 GB to 40-50gb, the quality of pictures will only a little decrease, but for reading it will not damage. I offered this operation to John, but he refused and I well understand him in this case.

Well, since you compute it will take 300 days, I recommend you start right away to be done by next spring. Don't forget to share them through a torrent, especially given your impressive bandwith speed.
