That van, the big gap between body and running boards and straight bottom line looks very Mopar. My guess 1937 Plymouth PT50, but the body on that unknown truck looks higher, still in very "American" style for Euro coachbuilt one?

Consider this Funkmastkraftwagen: A DMG "Michael" UHF antenna mounted on the Mercedes Benz L 4500 A chassis.

I am unable to reconcile this arrangement with the Kfz. Numbers for the other listed Funkmastkraftwagen platforms.
Kfz. 68- l. gl. Lkw., m.gl. Lkw., l. Lkw.
Kfz. 301-m. lgl. Lkw.
Kfz. 311-l. Lkw.(Einheits Diesel)
kfz. 305/25- I have no reference photos but the 305 series seems to be based on a m.gl. Lkw. or m. Lkw. platform, primarily the Blitz 3,6.
My question is what is the appropriate Kfz. designation for this vehicle, if any?

Hi Max,

a very interesting question. I think it is a Kfz. 311 radio mast motor vehicle with a Magirus 30 meter telescope mast for the directional radio system "Michael". I have found in the "Betriebsvorschriften Luftnachrichtentruppe" the following text about vehicles and load of a "leichter Richtverbindungstrupp (mot)": among the four vehicles one radio mast vehicle: Kfz. 301, Kfz. 68 or Kfz. 311 (neuer Art).
The most similar vehicle to the Mercedes-Benz on Your pics is for me the Kfz. 311 Einheitsdiesel. Here two pics of this vehicle.

Hi Bert,
Thank you very much for your reply, and I regret my inability to read German . I have had these tentatively classified as Kfz. 311 in my files, due to the resemblance, as you say, to the Magirus platform. But by careful reading of Holger's commentaries there is no place for a truck as heavy as the L 4500 in any of the given classifications. So I had second thoughts.

That may well be a possibility, but at the moment I have not found any six=wheel GMC truck references. I will do some more research, thank you for the pointer.

Some photos of 6 wheel GMC trucks. I believe the first is a 1931 (with Budd wheels). The others are 1932 models.

At the risk of beating a dead horse, I wonder if there are any further thoughts on this vehicle which was previously discussed here:viewtopic.php?f=47&t=73232&p=2024235&hi ... n#p2024235

Based on this picture which has since been withdrawn from Holger's site, the consensus was that it was a Kfz. 95 Kammerkraftwagen. However based on the description given here:http://www.kfzderwehrmacht.de/Hauptseit ... erkw_.html (in English translation) that

the vehicles were used to transport and provide larger quantities of decontaminated clothing and other equipment in gas-tight chambers.

it would seem that the truck pictured does not in any way fit that description.
To me it looks more like some kind of heating/ventilation truck with what appears to be an intake fan on the side (behind the tall man in this pic) and an extendable chimney on the roof. But that is just guess.

Has anyone discovered any further info on this strange vehicle?
