Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Thanks, Rich.
Well, here where I live summer is over and we are well into the rainy season, so I have no excuse.
What we have next is what appears to be a well camouflaged small pickup truck:

Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Hi Bert,
Is it, perhaps, a Chevrolet CC60L, or even a 1543X2?
Cheers,
Kerry.

Hello Bert,
What can I say? A quiet Sunday morning.
Here is my photo, perhaps not too difficult, the one behind is also interesting, but it is the car I am looking for.
Kerry.

Hi Kerry,
It's a ZIS-101, probably ca. 1940

Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Hello Max,
That is close enough, it is, I believe, the improved ZIS101a. Clearly not the extremely rare 101, or 101a, Sport, but the limousine version. Here is a standard 101, a different front end.
Over to you Max, and thank you,
Kerry.

Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Aaaaaarrrghhhh. Never thought to look at ZIS. I was convinced it was American as I could see Cadillac/GM written all over it.
Good job Max.
Good job Max.

Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Hi Kerry,
You're of course correct this is the 101a. I didn't realize the "old style"101 was sill in production when this model was introduced. That was a good question and a pretty rare pic of this car "in the wild" I should think.
Well here's the next question for you all:

Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Thanks Rich,
I also went straight to GM but the wheels just didn't look right. I guess it's understandable since back in the day Soviet automobile stylists had a habit of, shall we say, "paying homage" to their colleagues in Detroit.
Cheers,
Max
