Vehicle identity requests
Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi Max,
here is more information to this vehicle:
it is a Vondran apparatus, also called system Vondran, for decontamination by hot air. It was used for decontamination, desinfection and delousing.
The produced hot air was conducted by a ventilator with high speed into a room. At all time the air with the same temperature was coming in contact with the things which should be desinfected, because the air was conducted once more from above of the apparatus and heated. The
Vondran-apparatus was suited to sterilisate fur, leather, plush and velvet using a temperature of 90° C. Fur and leather are not damaged even at a temperature of 150° C. Bacterium won´t be killed at a temperature of 90° C, but of 150° C. This method had the advantage that clothes, leather suites etc. could be heated until 110° C without any harm/damage; furthermore the clothes remained dry and free of smell. Louses are killed at a temperature of 60° C in about 15 — 20 minutes, nits at 80° in 15 minutes. (source: Kliewe-Heinrich-Leitfaden-zur-Entseuchung-und-Entwesung"). I hope You can understand my translation.
Here another pic of this vehicle, but I´m sure You know it (source: www.kfzderwehrmacht.de).
Best regards
Bert

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi Bert
The vehicle in your photo is a Diamond T circa 1938. I haven't determined the exact model but maybe in the 306 series.

Very, Very interesting. Thank you very much for this information, it really "clears the air" concerning this vehicle and its function. From its appearance I suspected it was designed to heat and deliver hot air through the large air duct hose but I had no idea to what end. I presume this vehicle worked in tandem with the Kfz. 93 or 95 which possibly provided clothing for decontamination. I assume there was no Kfz. classification number assigned?
I have only one other pic of this vehicle which I think I actually got from one of your posts, but others may not have seen it. The vehicles ahead of it in the column look like probably two Kfz. 93's (or a 93 and a 95) following two Kfz. 94's:

Hi Bert,
It is 1940 Ford of Dutch production with DAF heavy GS semitrailer.
Max, it isn't V3000. On the second and last pictures it is well visible the windshield is split.
Cheers!

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Thanks, ilfil,
I thought the first windshield was single pane, the second looked split but I thought that could have been a reflected image of some sort thru that open door. I forgot Occam's Razor I guess, so I'll reclassify these as '40 Fords as you say.

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Any idea what tank that could be? It looks like it could be a PzKpfw.II, but I'm not sure.

Re: Vehicle identity requests
I found these while reorganizing my archives. Are these the Sd. Kfz. 11/3 mittlerer Sprühkraftwagen? They seem to have been rarely photographed.
This one I am sure of:Cheers,

Re: Vehicle identity requests
According to Panzer Tracts 22 - 2 the top pic is a SD Kfz 11-3 where the tank and spray equipment has been removed and replaced with a bench seat and a small wooden cargo bed. Not so sure about the second pic, but it does look very similar.
