Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi Jose,
Your first two truck pics look to be an American Indiana Model 86 chassis with a Dutch body:

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi Sturm 78,
the Opel van could be a vehicle of a survey squad. Here a pic of such a vehicle with the tactical sign of such a survey squad.
Best regards
Bert

Re: Vehicle identity requests
I found this on a Russian site labelled as a "Skoda 4s Prototype 1941" but I can find no other reference to the existence of this vehicle on the internet. Can anyone ID this. My first impression was post-war, but I really have no idea.
Cheers,
Max

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi Max,
The look of the thing is too modern for 40s and your suspicion is understandable.
The only traces of this vehicle I was able to find are in the Czech book "Vojenske vozidla" (Military vehicles), in the prime movers section. With few lines only the vehicle is described so: "4-cylinder-engined Skoda 4S is 1941 one-off 4x4 prototype based on Skoda 6K. Fitted with 92kW/125 h.p. gasoline engine it has 4000 kg. load capacity and max. speed of 60 km/h."
There is also a picture from State Regional Archive of Pilsen, regretfully from the rear and not of the best quality:
Pity the cab isn't visible better but from what I can see some details are the same, such like the door hinges and handle. The body is also the same. On the other hand, there are some differences: the place of the fuel tank (or air cylinder it is?), the rear fenders are different, etc. Probably it was revised at least once, no info so far. The same for the cab: it could be the same, it could be different. Yet another puzzle from that country...
BTW, the Czechs have had very advanced and pleasant designs back then (and in the same time extremely ugly ones!), here is Skoda electric truck prototype from late 30s, for example:

Cheers!

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hello Patrick,
It is hard to be sure from that angle, but it is one of a number of umbau vehicles produced mostly based on US cars. My initial thought is that is is based on a Ford V8 of some vintage, as here.
Cheers,
Kerry.

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi,
barely visible, but looks like the rest of distinctive Ford "teardrop" taillight on that Umbau.

Hi Kerry,
Thanks for your research. I think you are right. This is Ford V8/81A (1938)
The same type of car as in this other of my photos, and as your second photo.
Thanks again,
Patrick
