Hi all,

A Ford 39M Hungarian truck with 3-axles. Does somebody have any information about this conversion ? :?
Marmon-Herrington axles and 6x4 wheel drive ??

Was this conversion realized in Hungary with kits bought in US ??

It is a 6 x 6. There is a differential housing on the front axle.

The Marmon Herrington kits were licence built. According to Peter Mujzer in his book Huns on Wheels the Hungarians purchased a Marmon Herrington licence and converted 820 Ford trucks.

Carrying CV33 tankette and another on the trailer.

I think this one is a Chevrolet. If you look above the broken headlight you can just make out the Chevrolet emblem.

According to the book I mentioned the Hungarians purchased 1000 Ford V8 2.5t trucks from America and 785 from Germany in 1938.

820 of these were rebuilt under the Marmon Herrington licence.

Hello all,
I'm new to this thread. Was anything ever determined about the provenance of the 37-'38 Chevy "vans" Bill Murray asked about in post #16? They look rather like '38 Suburbans with European four door bodies:

I can not say for sure but Chevrolets were licence built in Poland in the late 1930's so that would seem to be a likely source.

Thank you, Nimrod7.
That make sense. They were most likely built by this firm:

Thanks, again, Nimrod7. So, no Ford trucks were manufactured under Ford licence in Hungary,..only reworked to convert them in 3 axles 6x6 trucks under MH licence....

On the other hand, Any idea about this armoured car. It seem an ancestor of 39M Csaba.... :?

You are correct. They were all imported.

The majority were 4x4 conversions. The picture that you posted is the only one of a 6x6 that I have seen.

Let me do some research on the armoured car. It is definitely from the Casba family.

The vehicle belongs to the Hungarian Airforce.

I think the doors on the side are for personnel so this may be some kind of crew truck.
