Very risky due to the possibility of MAD, no? Or was China's nuclear weapons delivery system still too primitive back then?

Apparently Mao Zedong (China's Communist dictator back then) wanted to have China enter the Vietnam War on the North Vietnamese side in the event of a US invasion of North Vietnam (as was previously the case in regards to North Korea in 1950):

Anyway, had the US decided to launch an invasion of North Vietnam sometime in the mid-1960s or late 1960s and China would have subsequently entered the Vietnam War on the North Vietnamese side, how would the Vietnam War have subsequently progressed? Also, would China's military performance have been weaker in Vietnam than in Korea due to the effects of the Cultural Revolution?

Any thoughts on all of this?
Obviously there could be no "Nixon goes to China" moment, but perhaps instead a "Johnson/Nixon goes to Moscow" one, given the ongoing border battles between the two Communist powers.
Didn't Nixon already aim at detente between the US and the Soviet Union, though?
He did indeed, but here he could specifically turn the CCCP against the CCP just as he did the reverse IOTL.

Would the Soviet Communists actually be receptive to such an overture?

Also, off-topic, but please check your PM box. I'm not sure, but I might have sent you some PM a while back that you never responded to. I could easily be wrong, but it's probably prudent for you to check this right now.

Declassified documents show they did approach the U.S. about being allowed to nuke China in 1969, even inviting the U.S. to join in on it and, ironically, used White Supremacist undertones as a justification as for why they should jointly do such. The irony was apparently lost on the Soviets.

Just how far could the Chinese fire their own nukes at the Soviet Union during this time, though? What did the Chinese nuclear missile delivery systems look like back then?

As for white supremacism, if you're referring to Nazi Germany here, it was a Nordic supremacist country, not a white supremacist country.
