Lembit? (on deepstorm.ru)
Hi!
Finding som very interesting reading on this page (deepstorm.ru)
But can't find the submarine Lembits actions during ww2.
Under what U-boattype would it be classified on that page? Or is it not on there since it wasn't built in russia?
Cheers, Jakob

Re: Lembit? (on deepstorm.ru)
Hi!
Lembit is there, with the description of its history as was done there for all Russian/Soviet submarines from XIX c. till modern, using archival sources (often from both sides for exact comparison if we are talking about ww2). See the section Submarines of the Red Navy (1917-1945), subsection - foreign built submarines of the Red Navy, and there - submarines of Kalev-class (Estonia).

Here for you the full submarine career (all in Russian, but you can easily translate with google translator:
http://www.sovboat.ru/ship/lembit.php3
It is a very good site with updated info and detailed account of missions and campagins, for the Lembit on specific it avoid the usual mistakes reported of victory claims and indicate the modern assessment of three victories (merchants "Hilma Lau" sunk and "Finnland" damaged by torpedoes, trawler "Spreeufer" sunk by mines).

Re: Lembit? (on deepstorm.ru)
Actually both sites are almost equal but deepstorm.ru is a bit better and covers all Russian/Soviet/Russian submarines, not only from ww2 period.

Re: Lembit? (on deepstorm.ru)
Yeah that's true. Also a good point for deepstorm.ru it's also inclusion of neat data for the coordinates of mine-fields (that i found very useful).Interbellum wrote: ↑15 Mar 2020, 23:04Actually both sites are almost equal but deepstorm.ru is a bit better and covers all Russian/Soviet/Russian submarines, not only from ww2 period.
However sovboat.ru include also not-Russian/Soviet built submarines and more info over crewmembers. Additionally the site it's more strict/conservative over dubious claims (and more updated for a couple of episodes).
