Hi Reichssammler,

Thanks for sharing the photos of the Soviet occupation of the New Reichschancellery! I wonder what those two armored vehicles in the Honor Court were? They resemble police vehicles created in the 1920s! As regards "the chair from the cinema" in the RK, like you, I didn't know that there was a permanent cinema in either the Old or the New RK...but that said, this could be true -- I would need to have solid provenance in order to believe it.

As for the pair of ornate wall sconces, I closely checked the interior photos in Ronald Pawly's "Hitler's Chancellery" (The Crowood Press Ltd., 2009) and found no match there. That said, that reference only showed the major and the public rooms of the building complex; there were numerous private offices and small meeting rooms throughout those buildings of which no photos exist. Here again, solid provenance would be fundamental to establishing that this pair came from the Old or the New RK.

Note that the desk and the sidedesk still exist. The side desk was on the exibition "Design in the Third Reich" (ended 1-3-2020) and looks undamaged. I,m wondering were all the funiture was transported too, because before the Russians moved in, the RK was near to complete empty. Gobelins and furniture....gone! They must still exist... but were???

I didn´t know the side desk still exists, wow. Attached is a photo from the exhibition.

Well, the DHM (German historical museum) in Berlin has a lot of the furniture which they will not show, I was in contact with them a few years ago and it seems that they even don´t want to talk about that stuff.
After the war the RK was looted by americans and russians - a lot of things came back to germany or were re-used (for example the big heating system, it is still used and working in a church in south bavaria).

From time to time you find some incredible stuff to buy at liveauctioneers or hermann-historica or even ebay, because the soldiers who took these things are almost all dead by now and their relatives want to sell this things.

This is a never-before-seen photograph from the construction site of the new RK. The company "Hochtief" still exists.

Ofcourse it was looted but this desk, and the big desk from Hitler, they were both undemaged! I think they removed a lot of furniture before the end of the war to safe places. So there must be more spices.......

Well known entrance to the underground bunker under Chancellery.
Can anybody put some light on this/those entrances to the bunker?
I wish to see a drawing showing this detail. I can see some tiles on the wall in the entrance area.

I have doubts if it is bunker or technical entrance to deliver for example furnitures etc.
Hatch is thin to be armoured cover for bunker.

Regards

My guess is that it's an emergency exit. Reinforced doors (and maybe a gas airlock) probably existed further along the passage. But yes, the thin external surface would be a real worry in a bombing. I thought I'd seen a depiction of this type of entrance in Downfall but I can't find it now.

It looks like this hatch is not wide opened to make German oficer moving in this way as on the photo.

There were few such entrances in this building am I right?

The best resource for the NRK is, IMO, Christoph Neubauer's DVD. Worth a Google and worth investing in. Here's a photo of two of the Bunker doors open.

It's good to see the photo of the public air raid shelter doors open along the central section of the NRK. I understand that there was also a large elevator platform in that same section of the sidewalk -- perhaps located between the two shelter doors -- by which large trucks could be lowered down into the basement area. Are there any photos or film of that elevator?

There is an English version of the DVD and it does show the elevator for trucks: https://www.facebook.com/Reichskanzlei.Berlin/
