Seems to me I remember reading somewhere the piano in the great room was a Bechstein. I also think I read somewhere that AH had taken lessons as a child. Imagine that "Dolfchen dear, time to practice your scales..."

This is the clearest pic of the Wintergarten leaded pane I've come across.
It's probably from an Eva Braun album
Geoff W -is your cu pic from this ?

There definitely are, like this whopper: "among the ruins of the Kehlsteinhaus ('Eagle's Nest')". Perhaps I'll correct it.Max wrote: ↑30 Mar 2020, 06:37

Oooh, there's just something about hobnails on a girl...
How odd. Was that a common feature of women's work-a-day shoes back then?

Yes, Max, that's the one.
Great pics, ramms - thanks!
Any idea who that man was?
The woman in the second photo was Herta Schneider. Pretty sure the other woman was Ilse Braun.
Hope everyone is staying well!

Yes, the grand piano in the Great Hall of the Berghof was a gift from Hitler's long-time supporters, Helene and Edwin Bechstein, who owned the famous C. Bechstein Pianoforte AG, which is still in business in Berlin today.
I believe there were two huge globes made for Hitler: One in the Great Hall near the huge window, and the other in his office in the New Reichschancellery. In both cases these globes were dwarfed by their surroundings and the the size of the room in which they stood.
