Often the term, as translated into English shows up as China Area Fleet and often it appears as if the gunboats, particularly on the Yangzi are identified as being the 1st Dispatched Squadron. Later the gunboats were identified as being the (in English) 11th Squadron. By 1915, the ships had been withdrawn or interned. Other ships frequently were just over the horizon, stationed in Korea, the leased area in southern Manchuria, Taiwan, the Penghu Islands or coming or going into Hong Kong (The Crown Colony of Great Britain), Japan's war time ally. Were they still the 1st Dispatched Squadron? What was the official structure of the fleet in or on the edge of Chinese waters?

I don’t know deployment at Korea, Taiwan and the Penghu Islands;.
Ships stationed in Lushun
Akashi
9th 艇隊 Teitai Torpedo Boat Unit
11th 艇隊
12th 艇隊
第1特務艦隊 1st Special Duty Fleet
Activated on 7 February 1917.
Egaged in convoy in the Indian Ocean.
Stationed in Hong Kong and Cape Town
The German Navy was not very active in the Indian Ocean, so the mission was not so tight.
Reorganized into 1st China Dispatch Fleet in August 1918 and moved to Shanghai.
(2nd Special Duty Fleet was dispatched to the Mediterranean to escort convoy. The dead persons are buried on Malta.)
Composition of 1st Special Duty Fleet on December 1917
- Yakumo
- Kasuga
- Chikuma
- Yahagi
- Suma
- Tsushima
- Niitaka
- 8th Destroyer Division (Harukaze, Hatsuyuki, Shigure, Hatsuharu)
